I have never been the biggest XBOX fan and would place them third behind PlayStation and Nintendo for my favourite consoles and in terms of their first party games, but I have been supportive of XBOX in recent years because high tides rise all boats and competition is good for the consumer, and I like Phil Spencer a lot. You get the sense that he understands where the industry should be moving, and they have tried to be more user friendly to win back some good will, but in my view, right now XBOX is on thin ice. Starfield and Halo Infinite weren't big successes, and so they're still on the hunt for some heavy hitters, and there just isn't a single indication that they will be able to pull it out of the hat anytime soon. It's not going to be Indiana Jones, it's not going to be Gears 6, and COD is what it is I guess if you're into those games, but where are the games that are the tentpole XBOX games? That has to be more than just 'we threw money at buying this thing'. Nintendo and Sony have been fucking KILLING them at this for years. When 360 was fresh and they had Gears of War and Halo 3, XBOX was hot shit, but that was it. Nothing after that. Buying all these publishers and studios and then closing ones like Tango who at least have come up with a cool new IP that wasn't a super expensive AAA title that lends to that XBOX IP offering is a really, really bad look. Not to mention that XBOX has been notoriously unsuccessful in Japan, so how do you see logic in closing Tango? And I mean even the fact they're gonna announce Gears 6... like... Gears 1 came out in 2006. 18 fucking years ago. If you're trying to pick up some new players, who is picking up Gears 6? Time to remaster the first 3 games, or do a God of War style soft reboot. The approach just across the board seems insane. And then they'll probably have some more hardware right around the corner that they want people to buy when they still have barely justified the investment in the current system. Content is everything in this industry. XBOX MUST get this shit sorted. They are a mile from where they need to be.
Dan runs jokes into the ground worse than any human being in history. edit- DAN. LINK IS AN ELF! What happened to New Dan? How is he getting WORSE again?
At what point is gamepass just straight up not making enough money? Like Redfall would have sold insanely well even if it was terrible and they could have at least made enough to stay afloat? Granted that would have had a lot of mad consumers for how bad it was but you’d think these devil corps would love that over gamepass subs but what do I know
The No Signal thing happens when the RetroTINK and/or the Elgato takes time to find the video signal after losing it. That can happen for a few reasons, including resolution changes (which some PS2 games actually do, especially when using Component cables). But in this case, it's probably because when switching games on the demo disc, the PS2 likely does some sort of reset, momentarily dropping the video signal completely. But Dan mentions having the RetroTINK 5x Pro, which actually has the ability to handle resolution changes with zero issues -- it's one of its main advertised features. A quick Google search says that in the 5x's menu, you need to go to "HDMI" and set V-Sync to "Triple Buffer" to eliminate issues with resolution changes -- games like Chrono Cross, Silent Hill, and that game in the previous Demo Derby will be displayed flawlessly from the 5x. That said, I'm not sure if that will fix a video signal dropping completely, like I suspect is happening when a demo is loaded. But at least it's not in the middle of a game in that case. Just note that setting V-Sync to Triple Buffer adds a tiny amount of lag, so don't set it when playing games where even a frame or two of lag can mess you up, e.g. Punch-Out.
I don't care about wrestling really, but I always like hearing Dan be really hype about it, it's nice to hear people talk about things they really love
The way Dan runs around so spastically without methodically checking each room and getting a feel for the level infuriates me 😂 He confuses himself because he rushes past so much without getting his bearings. At the very end when he's looking for more laser juice it was impossible to follow along and keep track of which rooms he had checked.
I believe Sony had no intention of going through with this change and simply wanted helldivers to get attention because no news is bad publicity. Additionally steam was refunding the game and a lot of people now bought it back. I bet they love the inflated sales numbers!
100% wrong. They did this because they have a profit report coming up soon and boosted PSN account numbers would look really good. This is an awful look. They have definitely lost some players who could be buying Super Credits and War Bonds. But I'll keep watch on the player count over the next month and I'm happy to be proven otherwise.
It's crazy that so many publishers are doubling down on 1 or 2 series. I'm sure it seems more efficient to the CEO's, but they're taking away the possibility of any real growth down the line.
There are two types of people in this world, those that say the iconic Mario 64 water music is from Jolly Roger Bay and those that say it's from Dire Dire Docks. I'm definitely the latter.
The first story was done in error. The screenshot I put on screen was actually from a March 27 filing, and it references what Nintendo talked about in its last investor meeting. I'm sorry.
Wouldn't Nintendo show off switch 2 in September at the TGS like they did with switch 1. 6 months before its release. They barely do anything during e3 time and backed out of gamescon. Damn people they will show it off when they want to. 😕
