I think of purchasing one of the these rods in a 9ft for close in with a centerpin float and free lining tactics . My only concern is if the rod is a bit stiff for smaller fish say your tench and such. Is the action a through action?
@gothicgorey I would say it may be a little stiff for smaller targets. I found on the 3lb the backbone kicks in just below the connection point of the 2 peices. It's a great rod, but I ended up getting 2.75 TC rods for more enjoyment with even smaller fish.
I got some monsters in that lower reservoir spot but heard the dam let go a few years ago and killed off most of the fish, not sure if that’s true - thoughts?
Hey , im telling you you going to stop using your bojli rods, much more fun to catch a 20-30lb with a feeder rod! Feel the connection between you and the fish much better. Cheers
Loved watching this . Very much reminds me of the UK style fishing. Brilliant to see this crossing the pond. It's addictive and fun ,like all the expensive pursuits 😆😆
Great video John and thanks for the shout out and continued support, much appreciated. Hope this rig bits help you catch something silly. Looking forward to getting your rigs on camera. I will be on the bank at some point soon and will give them a go.
I have a set of those same 9 foot EXTs. Very fun rods, very packable, very carriable. My next set will be whatever brand in 10 foot 3.5TC. I would like to see more full-width cork handles in carp rods.
From multispecies we came, and to multispecies we shall return. Love sharpening the hook on the shoreline rocks! Been there, done that, very resourceful!
Enjoyed this live John! Really excited to see your results from The island. I will be booking some time there in the future. It’s on the bucket list. Keep up the great content. Throughly enjoy your take on Canadian Carp fishing
I'm new to shore fishing in Niagara (St Catharines), what brand waders do you use or recommend? I need to add to my arsenal of fishing gear and tackle, normally I shop at Peter's in St.Kitt's, seem like a decent shop. Much rather support the small shops than BPro.
I have never really shopped high end. I think the only "brand name" pair I had was patagonia. At the end of the day they all fail. I feel some people do Ok with dryft. Outside of that I have very little first hand knowledge. I have gone the bass pro route and never gotten 2 years out of a pair. I think I may have gotten 3 out of my patagonias. I guess boils down to budget overall. If you were to break that down to years of use per $100 I don't see much of a difference in what I have purchased. I hope for the price the simms of the world would perform better.
Awesome John! I always get skunked spoon and lure chucking for salmon. Haven’t done it near enough though and have yet to do it in low light conditions. Seems like an absolutely blast though when you hook up.
