Beginners to Winners is an initiative of the Wynnum Manly Radio Model Yacht Club with the assistance Redlands Radio Yacht Club who have been fantastic supporters of this School. The aim is to teach people how to sail and race radio controlled yachts. Students will range from those that have zero sailing experience to those that have or are racing yachts and want to get better. The classes run every Tuesday from 8:30-12pm at Wynnum wading pool or Sovereign Lakes in Queensland Australia. Classes include whiteboard sessions followed by social racing.

@@jeremy000 That’s a great looking stand. Ideal because it’s higher off the ground. I was hoping to cadge the plans for making one. Never mind. Thanks for the reply.
@@cliveking9775 Ill try and post something on our website in the next few weeks.... A few other people have asked as well. It is a welded item by the way.
Not sure, Probably because we forgot to turn it off. We do have DF65s starting 20 or 30 seconds after the IOMs on a shorter course though. Sometimes we accidentally play the handicap combined class start instead which is very long :)
Great instructions.. also ... sometimes a starboard tack boat thinks he still has right of way over a port tack boat who has established the inside overlap ...
@@jaminboy119 gday Ben, its in the description.. a 808#16 that i bought for rocketry years ago. Surprised it still worked :) Just google 808#16 Spy Camera. Might be more expensive now, but still a budget way to muck around. I have deck mounted it as well in a small perspex box. Will post when i get time
Confused by the term "one mark". Can't find anywhere else. Is this a club mod to the rules or is it because off set is within 4 boat lengths? Or something else.
Here's one opinion on this: One mark applies when the clearance mark is less than 5 boat lengths from the weather mark because an overlap cannot be established in the 4 boat length zone of the clearance mark (after rounding the weather mark). If the clearance mark is say 10 boat lengths from the weather mark then there is room to get an overlap before the 4 boat length zone of the clearance mark and therefore the clearance mark is a separate mark.
I keep coming back to watch this. There's just so much going on at either marker, and the straights. I miss the next collision because I'm too busy laughing at the first one. (I know I wouldn't be laughing so hard if it was my boat, at the time) I stalled on a tack, powered up and dropped my wing on an innocent Swan. My fault. I was passing through Irons = no rights. Powered on to port tack right in front of a starboard tacker. And technically Windward. Take your pick. Sorry aboat that.
Agreed Tony, it's a great way to look back on your racing and see what goes wrong and often how well you did. Great for a few laughs as well. I have fun editing them. Everyone is getting better though, seeing as some didn't know which end of a boat was which a short time ago
Great to see an educational video on RC Sailing where the comments are open that we can ask Questions if needed... Good content, I'm looking forward to more!
In the second penalty example, (boat 412) the turn is technically incorrect as the boat only does 270º rather than 360. My fault as I did the vid .. hahaha
