Training six hours a day- for 10 months- no training session missed- giving up their ‘jobs’ to commit to the Vision, calling, excellence, passion and total respect for each other. All for four minutes (Bolero) and they broke the world record with 13x 6s- that’s what we’ve been watching. It’s Genius and Beauty. It’s a Legacy they have left for skaters to come. I wonder whether they ever had time for marriage and children? One would need to have incredibly understanding partners to be able to have both and it is poignant that as they retire from dancing on ice there might only be nieces and nephews to enjoy in their silver years.

This is what Ice Dancing should look like. The Artistry is sublime. The technical ability just Superb. Not a Twizzle in sight, just the way it should be. How lucky we are to see this. Wonderful Jacquie Harbord
Chris did most of it, with assistance from Betty Callaway and Jayne. There wasn’t so much an assumption back then that you would hire a separate choreographer (although it was not unheard of). There just wasn’t as much money in the sport. Coaches did most of the choreography and if they were lucky, their pupils would have some of those skills and the coach would just kind of edit and refine.
