The passage of 11 years since their massive gold win at the 1984 Olympics doesn't show at all. These two have lost nothing of their magic and charisma in this video. And don't you just love that STOP at 2:08??? To go from a gliding horizontal drop into his arms and then stop!!! And oh my gosh, that backwards somersault at 3:07!!! Just breathtaking! There might be dancers with more power and fancy jumps and spins, but no one I've seen can match the grace and delicacy and absolute inventiveness of Torvill & Dean, yes, even after all these years.
They did this dance for their last performance in Vancouver 1998. They didn’t announce it and they made a few changes and used a different version of the song. It’s still lovely. You can search under the carolpotts videos if you haven’t already watched it.
The female commentator doesn’t have any idea of the interpretation of this dance. This dance was all about them. They are complete dancers on ice and in a class of their own. This was the last dance they did, not this performance. It was in Vancouver 1998 and they didn’t announce it, just quietly danced for themselves and Chris did actually kiss her hand at the finish and Jayne was emotional. I’m not including DOI.
