Greetings! I am a self-taught pianist from Sweden who mostly enjoys to play ragtime. I have been playing the piano for about 3 years as of 2022, which I started doing at the age of 14 when I discovered Tom Brier on RU-vid.
Thanks, it just felt fitting at the time. When people play it too fast I feel it takes away the swingy feel to it, which I feel is a missed opportunity. I have had a few people on this video saying my tempo was too fast, but at the end of the day there'll always be opposition. Thank you again for the comment!
Congratulations! Great place to start. I actually started with Maple Leaf Rag because of how popular it is, but to be honest, I have grown tired of it, because of how often it is played... Scott Joplin does however still have a huge amount of spectacular lesser known pieces, a lot of which are in Scott Joplin's Complete Works.
In the 1976 edition of Encyclopaedia Britannica Janis Joplin was mentioned but not Scott Joplin. After hearing Treemonisha for the first time I declared him my favorite composer. Years later I discovered his rags.
You've got an easy touch. Tom would've Grined! Thanks. That sounds like someone in a bread line somewhere; what would be rolling around insid of them. Rough times and worries!
Why failed? The beauty lies in those small misses. And the one pause at 3:07 was perfect. Only if you knew how much i wish to play this track. Fantastic!
It’s so pathetic that idiots can walk by this talent and not even appreciate it for one second. It just goes to show you how out of touch some people are
