Equip 2 Endure focuses on all things emergency preparation and self-reliance. This includes topics like Wilderness Survival, Gardening, Camping, Food Preservation, Security Training, Product Reviews, etc. Our goal is to help our viewers "be prepared in all things." (In Omnia Paratus) #1287461
Tried all of them after watching, was very disappointed with mouth feel like a powder. Biscuits and gravy was the only good one. Mountain house does it better.
5 is supposed to be the actual thing and guy in the grey shirt is giving everything a 5....even the crusty ass biscuit. Someone is looking for ad revenue.
Glad you guys do these tests! They sell peak on the midwayusa website. I'm about to start prepping and was doing research and my main focus has been peak and mountain house and I can see I don't feel I'm doing wrong sticking with those
Bailed on this video 13 minutes in because of the off-the-chart annoying background rock version of elevator "music", aka pointless noise. Going to go use my leaf blower to clear my head.
"If you can't handle it, there might be a better videos for you to watch"?? FUK U IDIOTS!! Strait you block list so i don't see you faqs that are too good for viewers!! GD u boys are DUMB AF!!!
Its better than nothing. Its cheap and easy to retrofit. However, a proper glazing material is significantly superior. Products like school guard glass buys you precious minutes, not seconds.
SCAM!! I was thinking about getting a "years" supply from readywise but a year from them really means 3 months tops. Take how ever many servings they bloat up on there and divide them by 4, that's how many actual meals you get. 60 servings in a tub? 15 meals, that's it, oh and don't forget half of that is the orange drink mix you could get yourself for pennies on the dollar. (off brand tang is better , cheaper and lasts just as long) I am so glad I did not buy even 1 bucket from them. This is a SCAM!
The normal process for “cooking” freeze dried food is to add the water slosh it around for a minute or two to make sure you get everything wet and then stir completely. You are then supposed to close the package and let it sit for a few minutes. All of this is done with hot water. Did you do all of that? It doesn’t seem like it given all of the clumps of flavor powder I’m seeing. Not the manufacturer’s fault if you don’t pass freeze dried reconstitution 101.
Why would this save anyone money and time? Or are you claiming that people's tastes don't vary? Just because you like something or not doesn't mean that preference is going to apply to anyone else.
Peak refuel is more expensive but more calories. Math on Beef stroganoff is PR is $1/54cal. MH is $1/56cal. Calories is the main factor with protein being very important. Cost per cal is a metric id like to see on the website. Thanks for doing the research for us!
I think this is a case of "you get what you pay for". I bought a 132 serving kit of readywise from costco for $65. Calories per meal are the same as mountain house. A similar kit from MH is about $300. On average Mountain House is $5 per serving. Where Readywise can be as low as $1. So that's definitely a factor. Better ingredients and better packaging is higher price. Makes sense. Readywise falls into the category of, grab it and hope you don't need it. MH is buy it so you CAN use it.
I came here for this validation before I dropped a few thousand dollars to keep meals at my house. I have tried all of them, MH, Readywise, Peak, some other ones that had the heat source pouch in them ( i dont trust them chemical wise) and i have always gone back to MH. Ive been on hunts where i started to make breakfast or lunch and ended up in a stalk and i just throw the pouch in my backpack before i could even take a bite, ate it 3 hours later luke warm and still delicious. Recommend it to anyone that asks. Breakfast skillet, biscuits and gravy, chili mac, beef strog, and creamy mac are money with a little pepper, and on a few of them, a dash of Tabasco. For the love of god dont add any salt. 😂
Before you buy, check out our more recent video where we compare all the brands. It should be worth your time. The results may surprise you. We wouldn’t mind the support if you use the link either. 😉
Just made some of these yesterday before I watched your video. they are not as PRETTY AS YOURS though. Cheers, from Down-Under in OZ🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘 (KANGAROOS).
With readwise count the calories and the source of the calories, I.e. sugar drinks etc. I recommend Augason farms for larger bulk or mountain house for meal size packages.
Works twice as well if you stir it up thoroughly with a fork/spoon instead of squeezing it with your hands. Also I’m up in Colorado at 5100 feet (usually eating these on camping trips above 7,500 feet). Ive had at least 13 of these packs and 9/10 times, it says to put too much water. That being said its a fine line between too much and too little, so I think people just have to figure it out for themselves and figure out what their preferences are 🤷
Even though it’s a heavy knife I was pretty surprised at how easy it was to use for a variety for tasks. All I was expecting was good at batoning, but I was able to have way more control over it than I thought and a lot better carving ability than I was expecting.
I have Mountain House and 4 Patriots, both of which you need to add water.... and I also have the Datrex Lifeboat rations, which you can just open up and eat.
I removed the handles and wrapped it in a pattern X cross paracord to help with the impact in chopping strikes very beneficial.. i keep the handles inside the box
I'm not sure why anyone would use a film instead of polycabonate hard plastic. Even 1/8 thick polycarbonate has to be stronger than film, it needs to siliconed on the window edges, and held down with the window trim as it is not self adhesive. Its also available in 1/4 thickness when conditions allow for thicker plastic.
@@Equip2Endure Yes, its quite comfortable overall. However, at first you'll have to get used to that bump, as it obviously is different from the usual, conventional designs. At first it feels, lets say somewhat awkward. After a while, I realized it feels natural, ergonomic and I'd rather have it, than not. But its not a game changer. About hotspots, I guess it always depends on the size of the hand. For hands with medium sized palms and medium length, plus thin fingers, like mine, it's close to ideal. So no hotspots. Also, the finish on the birch is neither gloss nor matt. So, the handle is not slippery with naked and fairly sweaty hands and also not abrasive with naked dry ones. Many say, the correct thickness of a bushcraft scandi blade is 3mm maximum and this one's 4mmm. They say that the thicker the blade, the more abrupt the angle of the scandi grind is and the thicker the blade is behind the edge. Thus resulting to control issues and less performance, in let's say wood biting tasks. May be, less strenth of the edge itself, too. Especialy with crosswise, material removing tasks, there's a risk of bad chipping. I understand all that and theoretically I agree. It surely makes sense. Practically though, I have no say in this debate, as I don't have a 3mm one. All I can say, is that it doesn't feel cumbersome, as it processes soft and medium hardness wood, easily. Notches, whittling, fine work etc are a joy and had no problems with edge retention, strength and precision work. Used it about a dozen times so far, quite extensively and mostly on wood, during day long hikes and stropped it just twice. TBH, just for the sake of it. No problems with rust, but I tend to clean it often with a cloth, regardless of it being stainless. That fingerguard is also deep enough to feel safe. Quite a few scandi knives are not like that and for an average experience guy, like me, that is a necessity. Better safe, than sorry.
@@Equip2Endure Thanks for finding it useful. I modified my post a bit, in order to be more precise and added a couple more things, I left out. Take care!
Me when I see this in my feed: "Not another knife vid.... 😳 Do they sell that on Amazon?" Another good one Rusty. Short, sweet, hit the necessary points. Might need to check out a Casstrom myself. -J
Im not a fan for emergency situations for ultra light gear. The primary concern for back packing is WEIGHT. Durability is much further down the list. Im a big fan of KellyKettles. They are GREAT for QUICKLY boiling water and hold a good amount of water. Because of their design they use a very small fire that does not need much wood/fuel. Everyone is Gaga about bugout bags and out door living strategies. This is nonsense. All but the very best prepared and physically fit, young wont last long outdoors. Your odds of Long term survival are best if you can stay in your home. Your odds skyrocket if you have a network of people who will work together for the common good of their group.
Situations that cause you to break out emergency food are almost ALWAYS accompanied by strong levels of hunger. HAVING emergency food that TASTES GOOD IN A NORMAL situation means that they will takes like heaven in an emergency which is great because it will help to boost morale!
I live in OC and have been in numerous precarious situations with men approaching me, following me and trying the engage me in parking lots.. with all three of my children in tow.. I felt so vulnerable in that situation. If one person distracted me Md another tried to take one of my kids.. I would want a fire arm bc at the very least they would drop my kid and run at the sound of a shot.. plus I’m one woman with three small kids.. I’ll be damned if someone is going to hurt any of my babies!
