I agree with you about striking your ferro-rod with your knife. It just seems wrong. I think if you can carry a ferro, you can carry a striker. Personally, I use a piece of chert to strike my rods. As I always carry flint and steel. But I also carry a ferro-rod in case I need a fire fast. 😉
@@Equip2Endure Ok. I didn't recognize the channel name, but after watching this video and looking through your videos now I remember. Awesome job at trying all of those Mountain House meals! I think that was the first video I watched from your channel. Then the one that included ReadyWise. Both were quality videos. I'll have to remember to keep checking back since RU-vid isn't so good any more about suggesting the right videos. Thanks again!
I have the UCO Stormproof, and the Titan, matches. The Titans are okay, but I’ve found that the stormproof matches burn out too quickly for me. Regular kitchen matches have a longer burn time and, imho, are better for starting fires if you have decent tinder. Unless it’s wet or snowing, I’ll stick with my flint and steel. I’ve never gotten into the Sweetfire type starters. Although I might try the stormproof sweetfires. This kind of fire starter seems weak to me. I always think the striker won’t work and I’ll just be left with a small bit of tinder.
I have the regular UCO storm proof matches & wasn’t to impressed with them while trying them out. I was having a hard time getting them lit on the provided striker. do you have any experience with the Zippo Typhoon matches?
I have eyes those but haven’t tried them out yet. Did have a little trouble with the matches, but not terrible. I find if you press on the match head it does well as other matches. I will say those Stormproof sweet fires are pretty solid. -Rusty
I’m a fan of the channel, and I have a fairly successful channel myself. You guys need to work the algorithm, do shorts, post weekly, and stop with just product reviews. Do some trips, or vlog style videos. Your channel would grow exponentially. Also expand your social media presence. You have decent content, but you’re missing the basics 😉
As in "did UCO price it too high?" Or as in "Is the proper price displaying in the Amazon link?" If it's the first, it's subjective. If it's the second, yes. I'd grab the titans over the normal stormproof matches. About the same price but way more bang in each match. I'd probably throw a few of those Titans in a fire kit. Same with the sweetfires (get the stormproof sweetfires), though there is a bigger price difference. -Rusty
