if that happened to me I just wouldn’t be able to balance and poke my opponent when I fall into a split. I would instantly break my leg 🫥 how can they even do that i-
Shikine's first hit really is one of those ones where you wonder yourself how you got that to work. Nice video on a great topic: what to do when nothing seems to be working.
Do you think the refereeing in yesterday's fencing match between cheung and Macchi was fair? Cause I have heard a lot of Italian saying that this match is rigged and the referees were biased towards Cheung because cheung is asian
@@OlympicFoilAs the first fencer to successfully defend his Gold medal since 1956 and fencing being a lot more competitive these days, I would say he is the GOAT.
What budding young fencers need to remember is that small does not equal fast and tall does not equal slower. He is fast because that is his style and how he trains. The taller fencer probably relied on his height and reach for much of his career and did not develop a style that relied on speed.

For tennis, top 56 in rankings qualify automatically, except only 4 players per nation are allowed to play singles. The remaining spots up to 64 are made up of zonal qualifiers and other special allocations. I think they can work for fencing.
The Olympics is always about nations, rather than individuals or even teams. From that viewpoint, the selection system makes a lot more sense although I do think it could be improved. Maybe break the link between the team qualification and the individual qualification, so not all team athletes qualify for the individuals, although that would push up the total number of athletes.
I love how a sport origionating from dueling in the 18th century, supposedly a continuation of that gentelmenly elegance, so frequently devolves into two people furiously poking each other.
I do mma, my friend does fencing. One recess at school bro challenged me to a duel, I laughed cuz it sounded so silly, next I knew I was dodging a mf stick and on defense cuz bro was doing those hop things and overhead and side stabs. And he was NOT letting up, my other friend got me a stick so it was an even match and I managed to disarm him. Dude even did a bow thing at the end. I was fucking sweating and confused cuz I almost got my eye stabbed. Lesson is, if your friend ever comes up to you and says they challenge you to a duel grab the nearest pointy thing.
