Thanks for review, i was confused on a couple points where you rated the older model higher, such as more fun for the rear wheel drive aspects, but i believe you comparing against a 4 wheel drive model which is also available in 2 wheel drive and a lil cheaper for that option too so would be close on price and comparison of fun I guess. Also was confused about comment for tricky use computer to put on sport exhaust or sport mode i think you said, i just paid a deposit on the newer one and did not see a need to use the computer for these (hope am right) seemed either press exhaust physical button or rotate dial on steering wheel by 'NOS' button ;-p one click to put in sport mode, hope those comments make sense?
With the the 6 cyl. makes the G500 for me no sense. We took the G450d ( 8 L / 100km overall since 6.000 km now) . It´s a silent, relatively economical car and like our G450d with the Professional Line in dark olive and black allterrain wheels I like that it looks more like an old army vehicle ( our army here in switzerland has G W464 ) and not like a status symbol...which it isn´t either with the Diesel engine. Shown at my little channel.
Really enjoyed this overview of the G500! Not sure if it is different in any other markets, but in the U.S. the Active Ride Control suspension is only available on the G63 for 2025, not on the six cylinder version (here known as the G550 instead of the G500). An adaptive damping adjustment suspension used to be optional on the G550, but that was a less sophisticated suspension than the AMG Active Ride Control and does not appear to be an option on the 2025 G550 model.
Thanks for sharing! That is interesting as I have driven the new G63 but it didn’t have the Active Ride Control either which seems a shame to have it as an option on their top model. Thanks again for watching and hope you subscribe as there are plenty more videos coming soon!
Perhaps, it’s not as luxurious or as comfortable as a ‘full sized’ Range Rover but it is a good alternative to a Sport…again the new sport feels more luxurious at a lower price point however the G Wagon has much more exclusivity and in this sector of the market that is worth a lot
Thank you dude! Well actually we have lots of other videos coming soon so maybe you will find what you are looking for there 👀 Make sure you subscribe 😊
Have not driven a 992 but my bought new in 2016 991.2 C2s ticks all the boxes. I still love it after all these years. I ordered it with all the handling goodies and glad I did. Wonderful fun car to drive fast in the mountains!
Awesome choice, yeah the 991.2 I think is the sweet spot for ‘modern Porsches’ the 992 feels a lot bigger and looses part of its appeal because of that reason, in my opinion anyway
It was at the time of recording yet, I have since sold the car and I now actually have an old 996.2 Turbo as I wanted something more analog. Perhaps I will shoot some new videos on it
Not prepared enough, don’t know the specs without a phone. To the Porsche lover they are very different inside and out, you’ll only but a 991 if you don’t have the money for a 992, that’s clear. The 991 is dated
991.2 every time. I have a 991.2 CS Cab and an glad I resisted dealer offer to change to a 992. Cost of change, plus the bigger 992 bulk, for me just did not offset the better 992 front end suspension benefits.
Based on what i watched, there is no way the AMG GTR would put in a faster lap time tgan rhe Aston. Mercedes of this kind have always been lairy, weve all seen so many peograms qhere competing cars are pitted against each other and clean laps in the Merc are not easilt done. The ride in the Merc will be more harsh, they dont have a chassis and sispension guru like Aston has when they developed the Gen 2 Vantage. Matt Becker is the wizard they posched from Lotus and its his work tgat has allowed the Vantage to ride with such applomb. Desoite the kower horse power (why would Mercedes allow Aston a better package?) ... I would buy the Asron. Better car all round, more exclusivity because you dont see a Mercedes model on every street.
It doesn’t matter what you “watched”. The GTR is much faster on all tracks the two cars have run on. The GTR is also more extreme so it’s a reasonable trade off. The better comparison is the AMG GTC, not the GTR. Unlike probably everyone in this thread, I’ve driven all 3 including tracking the GTR. I put 150 miles on a 2018 AMG GTC this morning in the backroads.
@@SH57578 great work, you have an opinion and you have driven some Mercs. I have driven some Mercs and owned a few Aston's and own one as I write. I see you've omitted to not comment on the exclusivity aspect. On the road there will be negligible difference between them therefore exclusivity counts as much as ability.
I didn’t mention “exclusivity” once in my post. Both are very rare on the road but of course Aston’s are higher level. But the GTR is faster around a track, and by a wide margin, both are true statements.
According to official figures I had to hand at the time yes, however official figures are largely lies anyway so I wouldn’t believe either. If are are concerned about gas, don’t buy a sports car 😂 Thank you for your comment though I find it really funny that you think I have a accent as I don’t consider myself to have one at all.
@@Raoh1st Awesome! Bonjour! Just to let you know I just re-launched this channel and put a new video out just now after I think 4 years of not making a video 😅 would be cool if you let me know what you think of it and also you should know my colleague I am making the videos with is also French!

Good video. However, I think your fuel consumption figure comparison is not "like for like" The 992 must have been measured from an updated test cycle to the 991. There is no way the 992 does 9 mpg less than the 991.2.
Hey! Thanks for the comment, I know you made it a long time ago but I agree, the figures I had to hand at the time must have been incorrect. I have got a highly specified 991.2 c2s - it’s a wonderful car but has needed 10k +😮 repairs under warranty. Turbo’s , water pump, air con all failed and fixed by Porsche. Has the 992 fixed some of the weak points on the 991 . I would not buy a 991.2 without OPC warranty other wise you will spend all the savings from buying a 992 😮
I have heard a few people needing to replace the turbos on the their 991.2 also! This is a valuable point for any potential buyers to take into account when buying outside of warranty
I own a 992 T manual and just installed a stage 2 on it. I love my car especially after the power upgrade, but between these two the 991 looks better, more timeless.
Hey! Thanks for the comment, I know you made it a long time ago but haha a good choice! To be honest a powerful road car with Cup 2’s in any climate is quite a brave choice unless absolutely optimal conditions! To me, the only improvement offered by the 992 is the slightly wider fenders. Negatives… Additional particle filter exhaust Larger, Heavier Door Handle Gimmickery And although I will understand anyone who likes the wrap-across tail lights of the 992, I prefer the 991.2 rear end. Same for the hood and front end design change. The 991.2’s smoother, rounded features are more appropriate for the 911 and better suit me. My Two Cents 😎
I absolutely hated the handles on my 992. Comfort access made it so much worse, the car recognizes the key around 6 out of 10 times. The remaining 40% I’m standing outside like an asshole staring at the car waiting for the handles to come out.
Hey! Thanks for the comment, I know you made it a long time ago but actually mine was the 991.2 however I sold it a couple of years ago.
