Head 2 Head time! Today I am taking out the Mercedes AMG GTR and putting it against the Aston Martin Vantage and give them a Brutally honest review.
Both of these cars share the same V8 Bi-Turbo engine, but which is the better road car?
Which car will come out best in this Vs. challenge, watch on to find out!

Marc. Well i thought i had commented 'live' during the Premier of this amazing video! Your best to-date. Underlines exactly why you are THE BEST reviewer on the internet... in fact in any method of review. Natural, know your 'stuff'. and totally honest! Agree with all you say but what do i know! As previous please continue, excellent stuff. Shared many times, saved, repeat watching already. My 'live comments' will no doubt surface as some point. Again Thank you. Did someone mention a 911?.... Yet the Aston for all its Ford bits bin has a certain brutal 'charm' and character. Dropping like a brick from the top of a block of flats in value, but.....? H'mmm. Great video, both of these cars are a consideration of mine and I prefer the look of the Aston, just concerned with the reliability aspect. Also totally agree, I am not a fan of auto stop/start especially on a sports car 🤬

Paul Snashall I’ve sold a lot of Vantages and my boss also owns one, never heard of any reliability issues - However, every single one of these people have been shocked at the amount they have depreciated so my advice would be to buy used.

Stop/Start in the GT R works only in comfort mode and you can switch it completely off.

“Slightly less power” 6:10 The engine in the vantage and it’s tune is derived from the amg gts, but the gtr. The gts had less power than the gtr but is the same/similar to the vantage 👍

The seats are different in the AMG then the seats in the AMG GT sold in America

You have to play yourself into the cup tyres. First taste and it's oh shit. 11K miles in on mine and it all comes together, you learn to drive to them in all conditions. So easy to slide around and when warm and dry incredible.

The test would be honest if your tested against the AMR not the base motor. That is like racing a STi vs Impreza.

So its the Aston then - seems like it out-performs the Merc in every area - except the plastic air vent - I think I can live with that. The Merc suspension looks all wrong for a road car - its VERY annoying to have a car bouncing around like that. And no rake or height adjustment on the seats - that'd kill it for me anyway. Merc has more power but the same performance - WHY ?? BTW - the alcantara wore through on my sofa = Ligne Roset - and they are top notch - so on a steering wheel I give it 18 months before it has bald patches.

@@StanleyChewie just cos I reckon Mercedes have kind of lost their way a bit, in many areas - like the alcantara = not thought that through very well - pity cos they make great engines. I did have a Vantage V8 - and it was "OK" but I now have a Ferrari - and TBH its like night & day to the Aston - its light years ahead. Plan to swap it for a later one soonish - I'm a convert.

Okay nice try with all the comparisons and reviews, but you ought to know much more about the product and differences. You’re rambling on it’s same engine, well okay yes block... gtr has some strengthened internals, lower compression bigger turbos upgraded cooling etc from the standard aston/amg gt/s cars. So no it’s not the “same engine” between both Understeer.?!?!! On those low speed curves that car is seriously fucked up then.... on and off the street \ track the turn in and stick is mind blowing with 0 understeer, it also has rear wheel steer to rotate the car beautifully so something is def wrong ..... how cold was it No pops and cracks? My gtr stock sounds like bombs are going off, what are you doing lol

iLLGT2 Ok if it’s highly technical information you want then this channel isn’t for you. This is about jumping in a car for a test drive and seeing what it’s first impression is like. There was definitely the beginnings of understeer but like I said it was a cold (3 degrees) damp road with cold tires. As for the exhaust, again I’m only reporting what I heard and the Aston was a lot more pops and bangs. Don’t be offended that I didn’t choose your car as the favourite, everyone has their own opinion.

Drive with Marc Marc it’s all good bro, I just want to see you stand out from your competition on RU-vid and it starts in any field with knowing your shit through and through! Yes I own a gtr but also performante ruf gt2 and other cars, it’s not bias one way or another I’m a true car nut! The gtr has so much to offer than it is “just the same” which is why I was passionate in my response. Put more into it and you’ll get a lot more out is what I’m saying, from a businessman and car enthusiast. I still wish you and your channel the best, heed my constructive criticism.

Mercedes is far better car the Aston will cost far more to maintain and service the Mercedes is far better driving car aswell

Based on what i watched, there is no way the AMG GTR would put in a faster lap time tgan rhe Aston. Mercedes of this kind have always been lairy, weve all seen so many peograms qhere competing cars are pitted against each other and clean laps in the Merc are not easilt done. The ride in the Merc will be more harsh, they dont have a chassis and sispension guru like Aston has when they developed the Gen 2 Vantage. Matt Becker is the wizard they posched from Lotus and its his work tgat has allowed the Vantage to ride with such applomb. Desoite the kower horse power (why would Mercedes allow Aston a better package?) ... I would buy the Asron. Better car all round, more exclusivity because you dont see a Mercedes model on every street.

It doesn’t matter what you “watched”. The GTR is much faster on all tracks the two cars have run on. The GTR is also more extreme so it’s a reasonable trade off. The better comparison is the AMG GTC, not the GTR. Unlike probably everyone in this thread, I’ve driven all 3 including tracking the GTR. I put 150 miles on a 2018 AMG GTC this morning in the backroads.

@@stephenhester7354 great work, you have an opinion and you have driven some Mercs. I have driven some Mercs and owned a few Aston's and own one as I write. I see you've omitted to not comment on the exclusivity aspect. On the road there will be negligible difference between them therefore exclusivity counts as much as ability.

I didn’t mention “exclusivity” once in my post. Both are very rare on the road but of course Aston’s are higher level. But the GTR is faster around a track, and by a wide margin, both are true statements.
