After living in the suburbs my entire life (and not liking it very much) I'm moving to the country for the first time ever. I have a lot of projects to tackle - some country/farm-related and some not. Some things I know how to do and others I don't so I'll be learning along the way.
One of my first major purchases to help with the property was a Kubota B2301 compact tractor, and many of my videos are tractor related. It is probably the best money I ever spent.
Loved the vid, and i loved more with the mistakes you made, and you included them in the vid to,, definitely the best iv seen as you dont hide your mistakes, and on top of that you showed how to repair something with veru hard to get parts to , iv subbed due to this bid, all the best paul
My Kohler kt735 after replacing carburator, it loses power in tall grass now and before it never did. Everything is sealed as per carb gaskets. It will start and run with no issues, even when engaging PTO it seems to lose power then it picks up after a few seconds.
For years I ran a series of 48" bush hogs behind a 17hp Bolens G174. It had three PTO gears and the 720 range seemed the most likely for mowing. It certainly worked well on the Woods finish mower which came with it. So I spun the bush hogs at 720 and got pretty good results. When I bought a more powerful Kubota with 540 pto, the quality of the cut diminished drastically.
Great job on bringing that old girl back to life. I just got one at a garage sale for 20 bucks. It runs great but the chipper blades are done. In my area we have ethanol free fuel at the gas station. I always use it in my small engines and it doesn't eat up the fuel systems.
The problem i encountered after purchasing the quick hitch, new top hook, and bushing's is it's only Category 0 compliant. I found the 5/8 lifting pins to be undersized and extremely lose fitting on my 3 point lift arms. The 5/8 lifting pins are only rated for Category O and tractor's up to 20 horsepower. I found the undersized pins to be the deal breaker. I don't know why they designed the hitch with such small pins - very disappointed.
I just bought a Stihl post hole digger, you have to wrestle it a bit but saves messing around with the installation of this tractor auger. I quite enjoy using it. If you are only doing one big job, fencing for example, I would rent one of those hydraulic post hole diggers from Homedepot if I didn't have the Stihl. I don't rate augers on the back of tractors at all and front augers are seriously expensive - around $2500 from what I saw this week at the Kubota dealer.
I assume you are talking about the blades not spinning when you engage the PTO. Check the drive belt. If it is an electric PTO, it won't engage if there isn't a load on the system and could indicate a broken blade drive belt.
Had this installed on new 2024 by the dealer. Works great. Then I noticed this "odd" part laying on the second row floor. Your video confirmed it's the original hinge.

Thank you!! My kubota zt740 would start hard, run rough etc.. after screwing with it for weeks and changing fuel lines, pump, filter, air filter, plugs etc.. this finally worked! I feel like an idiot but thank you sooo much!!
I'm looking at one of these now, Have you been happy with the B2301?? The One I am looking at has LOW hours of 4! Yes 4! Asking 17500.00 I would like to get it for 16---16500. Should I get it, Your video will be a great help to me servicing it. Thanks!
@@thecountrylivingproject3263 Yes, It does have a front end loader. Owner said 16500 would get it delivered! I went to local Kubota dealer and looked at a 2601 , He said is was just like the 2301 except for less hp, I really didn't care for the forward and reverse peddle, but I say once a man got use to it, maybe it wouldn't be a big deal.
Carburetor sounds like it to be adjusted. If you are seeing sparks or flames coming out of the muffler, it's running lean. Sounds like it's running rich. A correct adjustment will give you greater performance and efficiency. Great job going through the engine.
Is the lower opening where lift arms slide into same size opening as top link,,my tractor arms wont slide into bottom opening because its not wide as top link opening???Any ideas,,def want to figure a way to make this work,,too aggravating attaching box blade when by myself
Yeah - glad you said something! I played it over a couple of times to confirm what he said, lol. By that standard I'm 5'14", so I had to make sure what I was hearing! 🙂
The real bottom line is you get what you pay for. Nothing wrong with being frugal but just be prepared for inconveniences. But I’m with ya. I try cheep and about 35 to 40 percent of the time it backfires on me. Do whatever just be mindful. End of story.
Hello friend, I know that this project was many years ago but I have a Honda HS35 also with that problem, I just want to know how you removed the control cover to get to the carburetor in the video it can't be seen thanks good video

Did you happen to draw out the measurements and do a diagram of what you built? This is actually the best one I’ve seen built so far and I have been looking for sometime .
