I’m scheduled for lateral hip replacement in a couple weeks. You didn’t ease my fears. It looks like it hurts like hell. But I can’t walk without a limp and it keeps me awake at night I guess it is what it is.

I had left hip replacement July 2021. It is 10-1-21. I had NO pain except lifting back in and back to bed. I had groin pain and it went away... My whole leg was numb until a week ago. Now my heel hurts. I have more pain than ever. My left leg is 4cm longer since the hardware Four Home therapists said they never saw any patient in their careers and I will have long-term back problems. Also, after home therapy, i went to an outpatient therapy place. They said they cant help me and they too had only seen 1 patient in over 15 years hop like I do to walk even with shoe inserts. Now I finally see the surgeon, not the PA for followup. The PA had xrays in their office after my 3 week followup and said 1cm plus. I am so upset. Hope i can find help. I have fallen twice..

I had my total hip replacement last Tuesday at Cappagh hospital in Ireland was walking 4 hours after surgery. Walked the stairs 5 hours after. Discharged at 7pm same day. Thank God I'm at home off heavy meds after 5th day. The man in this video seems to be struggling. Hope he is doing fine now. Anyone getting the operation I got an Epidural I felt nothing woke up 5 mins before end of Op and heard hammering but felt nothing. Do not be at all afraid of this op it will go really well for you🤗🥰

I just had mine done do to a birth defect on Dec 22nd. I'm into CrossFit (I won't say that again lol). I'm 45 and like you fairly young for this. I'm now 7 weeks post-op and doing thrusters, front squats etc... With permission and not going passed 90°. I cannot jump yet but I was cleared to jog last Friday, took the athletic assessment the same day (usually not given until 25 weeks) and did not pass, only due to the jumping portion of the assessment. Love seeing this post and your progression!!!!

I’m over 2 years post right hip replacement. Love my new hip. Been through six major surgeries since December 2014. One was emergency, the rest was on my back and hip. My hip surgery was far the easiest to recover from. Doesn’t even feel one bit artificial. 🥰

I had my left hip done 5 days ago as a total hip replacement and all was going well in a fashion until they said there is a hair line crack in my femur and I can not put any weight on my leg for 6 weeks. Now I am bed bound and the only exercise I can do is done in bed. I hope I don’t regret this in moths or years to come.

Just remember, you can't run or jog anymore after thr. And it only lasts 10-15 years. My left hip has degenerated cartilage on top of femur head. My right hip is normal. It hurts everyday and sometimes gives out on me, but i take collagen, and glucosamine and turmeric and one 500mg aleve a day, and it gets me through. No one cutting on my hip yet. Hopefully the continued use of collagen and glucosamine chondroitin will heal my cartilage, God willing.

@@superstumbo yeah I'm doing good, left side feels great, right side still feels funny when sitting down, think the nerves still healing, and they did say that the right side was the worse side as there was virtually nothing there. But I am pain free 👍 Also just watch which pain medication they give you, specially one called gabapentin, that can really eff with your head after a while. Good luck with your operation. P.S. I did have doubts and 2nd thoughts and thought wtf have I done the 1st few weeks, but that passed rather quickly ✌️
@superstumbo
@superstumbo 4 года назад
@@FarQLoL thanks for the first hand info. I am surprised gabapentin was given for such. I live in an area where many folks are on it and addicted to it.....using it as a bridge drug between their opioids to keep a 24/7 high going.....so I def will not touch that stuff. I didn't have great joints to start with as a child and the activities I chose were very taxing to the joints. Finally giving in to get them done and hopeful to get back to moving better. Check out what ed coan is doing on 2 new hips. Very glad to hear you are pain free.

@@superstumbo yeah i had perthes disease which i never recovered from, when i finally left college, the doctor said to choose a career that doesn't involve sitting or standing to long, can safely say been through a few career choices that's for sure. Just cause you have pain in your hip doesn’t mean you need a hip replacement. Be 100% sure before getting one and if you do need one try to wait as long as possible before getting one

Why ?
@hellothere8812

New Home Meanly due to the advancement of technology, meaning you’ll have a better chance of receiving a better hip replacement that could potentially last longer. This is for people who’s hip pain is not extremely severe and is manageable.

just had my left hip replaced with a new method of less invasive procedure where the surgeon does not cut through the muscle protecting the joint. Instead, the muscles are clamped to the side and the hip is removed.i I was operated on a Tuesday, 4 hours later I was doing laps around the hospital with a frame all pain was gone. The next morning I showed the physio I could walk and climb stairs with crutches and was sent home less than 24 hours later. The next day I was driving my car and only had to use one crutch for about 6 or 7 days. A few pain killers and nothing else required. I did no physio classes only a few stretches at home to make the joint stronger. Anyone contemplating this procedure ask about the less invasive hip replacement and settle for nothing less!

I’m 35 and I’m scared as hell for this surgery. Monday after 1 knee , 2 hip and 2 back surgeries I’m finally going through with THR. Nothing from past surgeries seem to help at all and now after becoming a dad for the first time I’m going for it. How difficult is the recovery and have you noticed any side affects like clicking or groin pain? Extremely nervous 😬

Hai dear.. I will be in total hip replacement in few month because of steroids make me have avascular necrosis, Im 30 years old now.. I have couple of question, what makes you different from before the surgery ? What you can't do in life ? Can you still still climb the stairs ? Or can you just cut the nails on your feet ? how much time do you have for the next operation ? my doctor said if this tool has a time limit to be replaced later.. what material do you choose, metal or ceramic ? or something else maybe.. can you just share your experience please 🙏 thank you
