Was wondering how CKLW sounded during their K-800 years. They switched to news/talk when I was 3 years old, so I don't remember them being a station that played music. I definitely recognize the first song.

You would be surprised what had to be edited out of even the old shows I have on here! Thank you for your kind comments.

Fantastic! The best of the best. Even well into the '60s many of these artists were creating this kind of music and works of art. I don't recall "Hello Detroit" but it's better than "LA Is My Lady" which got more play on the Los Angeles affiliate. No doubt music was more positive and sweeter in those days.

Thankful for this rebroadcast. Great selection of songs with many old favorites. I listened to a 'Music of Your Life' station in Los Angeles in the late '70s-early '80s. What I miss the most are AM stations based on this music in mono with no need for a computer. We had two stations in the area. There was a transmitting antenna a couple of miles south of us you could see at night. We also had a couple of first class classical stations. Most have switched formats like the FM stations and it's hard to find a station worth listening to. Thankfully a lot has been archived and now available for us and future generations. P.S. I remember those "inventor's kit" ads. Lol.

Canada had great talent! Only they all had to go the States to 'make it'. What voices! Even operatic, and obviously well rehearsed. We still have great talent but can stay home a little more and are now internationally known. The most 'beautiful woman' in the world, seen here, was Yvonne DeCarlo was from B.C. Something wrong with the world that doesn't have songs like 'The Eyes of God' anymore.

Rest assured it wasn't just seniors who enjoyed WGUL. I enjoyed listening as well. And I found AM 860 when I was fifteen during a during a family trip to St. Petersburg in the summer of 1995. We were beginning to lose our Big Band/standards and beautiful music stations in Ohio by that time. So, it was a real boon to find WGUL proudly serving the Bay area and FM 103.5 WDUV providing instrumentals out of Bradenton, just south of the Bay area. Regrettably, WGUL-AM was sold almost twenty years ago to a religious outfit meaning that the Big Band and standards format is now gone even in the Bay area. And WDUV moved to the Bay area-ironically at FM 105.5, the dial position held by WGUL in this aircheck-and changed its format from beautiful music to something more resembling adult contemporary. The period 2002-05 marked the end of an era for radio along the Suncoast. Thank you for posting these airchecks from a truly great station, WGUL.

I am searching for one tune from what I believe was featured on the Show, from March 3, 1974, the episode is "We Believe in Music" featuring husband and wife, Mary Lou Metzger, and Richard Maloof, in their duet, "Them There Eyes". Any help if you have it would be most appreciated! Thanks!

On the syndicated episodes I used to listen to about a decade or so ago, TMOYL would open with the same instrumental song. Sounded like Les Brown, or the like. And it wasn't the same one this one episode opened with. Would you, or anyone, happen to know it? Maybe they had a few different ones they used.
