The new Ford Capri looks to be a very good and competitive car. When I see it, it looks to me like a MONDEO. A big family car. Had it been named Mondeo, it would probably be better received.
Another possible Failure in the making ..There was Scorpiio , then Probe or as it was nicknamed Pube, , Ka Went , Mondeo Went , Fiesta went, But BMW AUDI VAUXHALL still have Large and Small Saloons and Hatches, which Ford think no one wants, Fiesta took 46 years to find they were losing money on it , but did nothing to correct that , just killed the best Seller , So now this and Explorer....will it all go wrong, Nissan had a small electric car some many years ago,,,The Leaf , So if they really wanted to build an Electric car , then Could have been , a Electric KA or Fiesta, , We will have to see if it sells, it might have been better as New Mondeo, but NO, China have a New Mondeo and it looks good, we dont ?!!! Oh and next Romour , deletion for 2025 is Focus, what more can go wrong
I’m in England and we head up to skye often (~500 miles). An EV is fine for us as we have a small dog and family who need a break every two hours anyway so around 50% of the battery. I’m not going to pretend they’ll work for everyone though. Especially in the states where the network is really poor.
The fact of the matter about the incentives part, and how it is needed to people to buy it. Is also not considering the fact, that telling a 50 year old who has had diesel his whole life, yet never used the diesel to it's potential and could easily live with an electric car. To move over to something brand new. With maybe new issues, or routines. Scares away a lot of customers. But it also true that electric car market is behind the normal fuel driven cars. Because batteries. Over the past century. Improvements and new foundations have been made for fuel driven cars have been made. Down to the bore size of the cylinder and the tiniest details. Only in recent decades, has the battery technology seen huge improvements. And maybe one day, like when cars went from carbureted to fuel injected. We will see such an improvement in batteries. Maybe solid state batteries? Maybe something else. The idea of the video is there... There is just so much more to think about lul.
Your argument about company cars doesn't prove what you think it does. Anybody in a job would get an electric car through a company scheme rather than as a private buyer because the tax breaks are so good (they might still get one if there were no tax breaks but given that there are they would be foolish to not take them).
I wholeheartedly agree. Making a new Capri in the spirit of the original - A very good looking cheap sports coupe - would have been very welcome, building a small VW SUV and calling it Capri is just mind-bogglingly stupid.
Tbh I never really was into og Capri. It just doesnt give me that cool feel like american Fords does (Mustang, Fairlane, Crown Vic, Ecoline van). Its just not the America I expect from Ford. Maybe like the 1950s Taunus but then I can already buy Fairlane.
To be honest I’m glad Ford have stopped making the Fiesta and Focus in 2025 the way they are going Puma will be the last good Ford (Fiesta underneath so drives well so I can let it off a bit.)
I think the fiesta will return, it’s gonna be like when Volvo decided to end production of their estates a few months ago now. They’ll realise it was a dumb decision, and bring back what their customers truly want. As after all they didn’t discontinue the fiesta or focus due to lack of sales, but simply lack of profits. So if they find a way to make more money on them, the focus and fiesta name plate are likely to return
Market forces and ever stringent rules dictate the way vehicles are heading. If Land Rover were still producing the old Defender, it would go out of business. They were too costly to make - mostly by hand, and were just not profitable as the demand just wasn't there. These days, buyers are not brand loyal. If you don't give them what they want, they'll go to a brand that does.
Land Rover do make some of the best cars in the world, supremely capable and comfortable. Their main issue is they’re too costly and unreliable. What they’ve achieved as a British brand, made (mostly) in Britain since 1948 is not to be under recognised.
Ford by its own admission can’t sell the Mustang Mach E which at least is reasonably good looking but no Mustang, so why do they think this will be a success. So many people that loved the original car are horrified and genuinely upset, what on earth are Ford doing? EV sales are stalling, so why not at least try to make them look attractive, it might just help.
In my opinion, nowadays Land Rovers are used only in movies for bad villain minion goons. For instance, in car chases or to present a "SeRious" persona with a suit and a tie. Despite that, I can't see any other practical use of Land Rover as a choice of a car brand.
Build quality is a joke? Maybe interior plastic is better, but no more. Build quality now are rubish, most modern cars broke multiple time in first 100-200k, then you really can got 80-90-00 car after 400-600k in good condition.
The A290's interior is actually navy blue with white leather, can confirm with new press photos and seeing one at Goodwood. Its about a 10 grand bump from the R5 which I can kinda see the value in, but not entirely using something like an audi A1. Just wished it was a 4wd car or just rwd.
Just found your channel, and I have to tell, I enjoyed every video I watched. Keep it up :) I can relate to color choices a lot, this is why I am considering to wrap a car because I just cant get it in yellow or green as I want to by default. I don't see the point of not adding more colours to, for instance, Mercedes configurator as you still have to pay extra for other shades of basic white or grey 🤔 It is sad that for 60k you still can not get a colour you want to by default 😭
I think people look at the decision of color choice as a practical one. In order not to clean the car you own for example. But you're right that it makes the cars blend into a grey mass. Actually, grey cars are hardly visible on the road so it's a con at this point. I think my parents have fallen victims to these opinions of "classy white and dark cars being more official and discreet" or something. Their 1st car was a white Volvo Wagon. Soon after there was a black Mercedes ml130. And now they once again have chosen a white VW I.D. 4 - a car with the exact same generic white color that we see several times on same model cars on the road just going to a supermarket. And it feels like a matrix to me now... If given a choice, I wouldn't immediately buy a pink or orange car or something, but I'd rather have a red or yellow car. I dunno, I think it would affect my emotional connection to the car and the memories after owning it.
