3 years late to the party, but at 1:10 it should be noted that the Canon AE-1 is a shutter priority camera, as Ben correctly updates in his notes - you select the shutter speed and the camera will select the correct exposure by adjusting the aperture. For anyone who truly requires an aperture priority camera, this was available in the Canon AV-1, a contemporary of the AE-1.
I just picked up one at a flea market here in the US. I paid $85 for it. I think it was close to $90 after sales tax. I had to go to a camera store to buy a battery. They had 2 batteries in stocks so I bought both. So far I've shot 3 rolls of film through it but have only developed 1 roll. The closest camera store to me is nearly a 2 hour drive. They are mostly a film camera store. It's very small. I'll buy more film when I take these rolls too be developed. My camera has the shutter squeal. I just need to put a few drops of oil in the right spot to fix that. My understanding with film is that you over expose by maybe a stop for the shadows.
Hey! I’ve actually never used the pro. But here it was pretty decent, but I was shooting at 1.4 and and the lights from the street was bright enough. I think it was 3200 ISO. Nothing like the Sony though but decent enough for sure
@@bendroege Fair enough haha, lovely visuals though. Are you using the BMPCC or BMCC? The title says BMPCC and full frame, but the BMPCC isn't full frame.
Great review, one thing I want to say is I love the shape and design of the T3.. maybe it’s just me but I think it’s damn near a perfect design when it comes to holding, shooting and putting away in either pocket or bag. Aesthetically I think it looks really good
Thank you!! I used Cineprint 16 with a few tweaks that ive been implementing over the last few months. I think the RAW of the pocket though makes such a big difference - grading was so easy with it :)
Howdy Ben! As a 41 year old about to start a cert IV at RMIT in Melbourne I found this video fantastic. Came looking for exactly this sort of video and didn't have high hopes but to find one . . . and for it to be localised to Melbourne is amazing! Thanks! How are you finding the industry since this? I'm coming to photography really late in life so I thought studying would be a great way to accelerate my learning a bit . . . though my main goal is to move into cinematography. Do you find the study helped you in the long run? Once again, thanks for the practical and frank video!
The way it works is very simple. The sensor on the lens there powers the meter. The meter needle moves and when you press the shutter the needle is pinned in place by an arm that, depending on the position of the needle, allows for one of 2 shutter speeds and the entire aperture range within those shutter speeds.
