Hi Hannah! I am only 2 minutes in to this video and I just really wanted to comment. I know EXACTLY what you feel like…. It is the WORST. It’s absolutely debilitating. I have struggled on and off since I was about 17 and I am 34. I have tried every sleep drug. I am not crazy about ambien but still use it just when I am traveling bc it works… just makes you feel hungover…Like you said. It also gives me HORRIBLE nightmares if I take it more than a few nights on whatever night I stop. (I am listening to the rest now). Honestly the best thing for me was seeing a Sleep Therapist… they had me on a really really intense sleep schedule for a while which actually works. Seriously please message me if you need to about this. Also, mirtazapine has been working for me on a really low dosage (15 mg) daily before bed. I figure it is better than a sleep drug or SSRI. When it’s at its worst it starts to become this issue where you DREAD going to sleep at night bc you know you are just going to toss and turn and it’s just a hamster wheel effect. Learning your triggers is key. I also learned I struggle most sleeping next to somebody (which is tough when you are married). All the things you listed I had heard so many times as well… I tried it ALL. Taking magnesium is really important daily. Melatonin does nothing for me… and my sleep therapist actually said it’s kind of hog-wash. I also struggle with sleep around my cycle… and a full moon lol. Are you an HSP too??? Anyway - I promise the sleep therapist is the best move!!!! BEST OF LUCK!!! This is literally my “biggest baggage” as I told every single bf of my life… “I have sleep issues”.
