Thanks for telling your story. I wonder if the complications during your surgery were actually caused by a surgical error such as one of the screws they tried to insert accidentally damaged your spinal cord. I would be looking into that because if they screwed up and it caused you to be paralyzed you need to get paid a lot of money.Good luck with everything and it sucks that your life had to change. Just be strong everyday and live the best life you can.

Did they ever tell you what the complications were? Did the doctors do something wrong?

Always research your surgeon. If you can find a nurse who works in that hospital, buy them lunch or something- find out who is the real top dog. All the nurses will know. Without that inside intel, you will never know. No, most online reviews will tell you very little. Some of the best surgeons have the worse websites and bed side manner. They are so good, they have no one to impress. Look also for BOARD CERTIFIED, FELLOWSHIP TRAINED surgeon. If someone has about 10-15 years of experience post graduation, that is often a sweet spot. It means to me that their training is fairly recent and they are likely on top of their game and physically capable- vision, muscles, brain likely still sharp. Some surgeons operate well into their 70's and that is just too long. More mistakes will happen. There are of course exceptions, but as a general rule this is true.

Thank you for your openness with your story. I'm dealing with a possibly simular story and am unsure on what to do. A couple of years ago i had my 2nd c-spine fusion. Aboutt 6 months after i started having leg spasms which have been progressively been getting worse. They have reached such a bad level that my walking has got worse and we had another surgery to put in a baxlofen pump. It puts medicine into my spinal canal to help with my spasms. I didn't make a co conection until my neurologist said that my surgeon may have nicked my cord and caused this problem. He later also said that my cyst in my thorasic spine may also have been the cause. Still i a questioning state as to weather or not to seak legal advice on this. What do you and your people think? Thanks again for sharing. It helps.

I saw your other blog and was wondering how this could happen. My sister had the same surgery and thank goodness did okay. The medical field can be a big hiding game. It is a business, like any other, unsatisfactory outcomes tant the business, hence the lies. I have worked in this field my whole life and has taught me to be very educated and question anything that does not make sense. Beside what they think, they are not god, doctors make mistakes too. Maybe he came to see you everyday out of guilt, they know when a mistake happens, he will live with this the rest of his life as well. Not as much the mistake as the lie.

Why is it always the most athletic people? It's not fair. But at least she looks healthy and has complete function of her hands and her arms look strong. That is something.

I was diagnosed with Scoliosis of the spine at 10 years of age that my family Doctor suggested to be placed in a body cast for minimum of one year. He said that would probably be followed by surgery. From the moment of diagnosis I had a deep rooted feeling to never go along with proticol from the Doctor which I was so happy I did. I was extremely athletic coupled with extreme pain in my back but just took the time needed to heal and went right back to my sports once feeling a bit better. But as years went on while and after having two children the pain was sometimes unbearable. I persevered because I knew that if I chose surgery it would result in a 50% chance of becoming paralyzed and knowing I still cared for two children it wasn't an chance I wanted to take. Thankfully from my 40's plus I have abosikuteky no more back pain that I'm extremely grateful for. I applied inner release work based upon the emotions that were causing my back pain and urge you or anyone else to please contemplate seeing that physical pain is directly connected to our emotional pain.

I'm never letting any 🦆🦆🦆🦆 doctor any where near my spinal cord. when you see how rough a lot of them are with their hands I handle computers more gentle than most of them.
