I personally have multiple smeargles for catching. One with a general catching moveset (spore, false swipe, soak, and topsy-turvy), and one to easily catch miniors (explosion, imprison, false swipe, I forgot the last move actually). If there's any specific pokemon that you're worried about losing, you can always design a smeargle to counter it as best you can. (Ironically enough though I didn't use that smeargle when I finally found a shiny minior during an outbreak hunt. I just panicked and immediately threw my master ball at it.)
Nice list! Too bad I don't have gen 3-5 games. But I do have Crystal VC and shiny hunting Celebi is a lot of fun. Idk why but the sparkles in the gen 2 games make it look really cool
I would give smeargle odor sleuth over stomp so you can use it on ghosts For gen 6 chain fishing, a sticky hold or suction cups mon like octilery is a must For SOS chaining in alola, I use trevanent with harvest holding a leppa berry. Skill swap haverst on the sos caller, trick the leppa onto them, and defeat the called pokemon. Switch out to your smeargle/false swiper when the shiny appears

My one (and only) shiny hunt was ho oh in gold (on the 3ds). It took me three years of on and off dedication so probably only like 24hrs overall. I am never shiny hunting again im letting them surprise me now
Bro what do you even mean s/v has one of the easiest shiny hunting methods you can get. Just make a simple sandwich and you can literally find anything. Add that to the fact you can increase encounters of a certain type and you are basically guaranteed to get the shiny you want. You can't make a tier list based on what you like and what pokemon are in the game. Its "best game to shiny hunt in" not "which game do I like the most". s/v uou can find one without the shiny charm even so idk just my opinion.
hgss chikorita was actually my first successful hunt starting a badge quest in HG this week, it's such a comfy hunt to do on a treadmill. had 2 phases on shiny cyndaquil which i won't complain about!
Just finished my 1st ever full odds hg SR for totodile, and it was the 1st i got after 2649 encounters 😭 was so happy only took 15-20 hours. Going for oshawott, charmander and treecko next. Guess im a full odds hunter now lol
I frogot how I got into shiny hunting. I think it started with chain fishing in xy and oras then I found out legendaries could be soft reseted and I saw videos online of people doing it and stuff. But it was so hard to believe it could be me. Well one day I said ok I’ll do it and I won’t give up this time. I frogot how long it took but eventually I got my first shiny legendary a shiny regigigas. After that I was so hooked. I shiny hunted every legendary I could after that and chatching them. Which continued into ultra moon where I did the same but that shiny yvetal took me a year to get. I was super unlucky but I would not quit. Eventually I got it felt unreal especially sense xy was my first modern pokemon game. So I was very found of those gens legendaries. I also remember my whole team getting mauled by a shiny terrakian because I couldent attack it any more but I also ran out of potions even though I stocked up on revives and potions. Sadly those files are long gone but I still own the original cartridges I did all of it on. Except my Ora’s because idk where it went had to buy an alpha sapphire to play through again but I still have my og x game but it’s not the og save or anything and I have my og ultra moon but again the og save with all the hunts has been long gone. But I still have the og cartridges so it still feels good remembering poping them in after school

This is so dumb make no sense. Why would you like to waste time shining hunting when in 30min you can have any shiny in SV? If you want legendaries just go to Sw/Sh.
my first hunted shiny was Chikorita in SS. literally got it in 2 days hunting probably $-6hrs hunting total. played the game then decided to hunt again and got ANOTHER chikorita. tried to play through the game as it was on my Jap file but decided to rehunt on the eng copy so traded the bayleef over and then 3ish days hunting here and there goa shiny Cyndaquil
I would also include the starter hunt in ruby and sapphire as they are as fast as random encounters in gen 3, about 3 to 4 a minute So you'll reach 1000 SRs in under 6 hours The only downside is that you need a working RTC battery two generate different initial seeds every reset
Not to be that guy but you meant to say the odds are higher not lower The shiny odds where doubled in gen 6 from 1/8192 to 1/4096 Since 1/4096 is a larger number that makes it an increased chance Other than that this list is pretty much in the mark My first shiny hunt was the HGSS starters and I got a shiny totodile in about 2 hours
@@Cabz. I didn’t count mine but it was a week and about 2 hours a day on a gba sp. you want to do it on a gba because the time you lose on the ds opening menu is massive over time

Gold and silver crystal VC 😂 Chikorita was so rewarding but not beginner friendly Then i did the odd egg which was easy peasy and FUN. Because I only hatched 10 eggs (1/64?) And got a different baby Pokémon everytime not knowing which would be the shiny. Just didn't want Tyrogue. Bittersweet. Got the green eyed igglybuff line BUT that'll be very special to tranfer to my SV games 😊 Sudowoodo im doing now. It's easy to get 2 encounters a minute or even 3. No luck crazily. RNG is a bitch.
You like hunting Rayquaza in Emerald or HGSS more? (also when I was ramdomly resetting for a good IV Zapdos in HGSS, I found it shiny, which I wasn't even aiming for, it just shone a few days ago)
Congratulations on Zapdos, for Rayquaza I personally like emerald better because it Is one of the only Run-away legendary hunts. Also, I like the atmosphere of sky pillar better
