Sorry to say but I cannot get behind female cestodes. I know this is a very political move but I do prefer sending Men to war as they are dispensable, and, if you are in a fight for survival, Women are more important for the survival of the race. Just my opinion
Cortez's bad model aside, I am looking forward to more info about the army. Lots of potential for fun, fluffy army lists. Personally, I want to see if i can build an army around arbites in chimeras 👮♂️🚔
Not convinced that my deathwatch army is a thing any more. It's a shame they all have those shoulders on them. And I'm not crying. This hobby costs a lot of money. So if the money that I've spent is not valued, then I'm not in the mood to be spending a lot of money to make this viable again.
I had the same upset with Kroot to be honest. I love the faction they released so many models but still don’t have their own codex. They only get a detachment in another codex and I don’t want to invest a tonne of money in something that isn’t truly a fully supported army. - Luke
@@morehammer kroot really aren't that bad though just gotta convert a couple tanks and you have a full army. Its the endless horde painting that is the issue.
Little disingenuous with ignoring some of the issues for existing DW players - their previous armies which included more special units and terminators has now been restricted down to 4 entries. If you go the SM army route you can take up to 2 units of DW vets, and 2 characters along with you marines. That isn't going to cover even a fraction of most forces and existing players do have good reasons for feeling rough at the change. That said I totally agree that this is where DW always should have been and they work far better this way. The Allied Agents system is super thematic and opens up some real fun with other Imperial armies like having a squad of Grey Knights allied in! Very keen for this and hopefully we will see some cool armies coming out of it. Also Coteaz exists.
Yall should check out Cyberpunk Combat Zone. I think its hands down the best bang for you buck. For 120 you get two factions and some terrain. I'm amazed how many people in wargaming are still unaware of this.
So I don't play that many Warhammer games but I enjoy the show anyway. And, since you asked...there so many great games out there! Infinity and Stargrave, plus Rangers of Shadowdeep for sure. Fallout: Wasteland Warfare is a wonderful narrative game albeit quite fiddly. Sludge is a fun romp into alternative black powder era detachment-scale with some very clever gore mechanics. Warlords of Erehwon uses Bolt Action core game loop but in a fantasy setting. Forbidden Psalm has an extensive narrative fantasy series with a simple d20 system. Baron's War is an excellent medieval ruleset. Burrows & Badgers is a quick and fun system with absolutely adorable models. And recently I've added The Doomed for some sci-fantasy boss hunting with a super simple dice system like One Page Rules. (Oh, and of course, all OPR games...especially their new Age of Fantasy Quest system.) And I am currently looking forward to Port Royal for some pirate skirmish fun.
Godtear is a great shout I love that game. Malifaux is great I love the models but yes the rules are difficult there’s a lot to keep track of. I love the cards instead of dice though.
We hope you all enjoyed this episode, make sure to mention your favorite non-Warhammer games out there as there are to many that we'd love to mention that we didn't have time for.
У группы Ayreon есть целый альбом с сюжетом явно вдохновленным этим рассказом. И у них есть других пара альбомов, с историей этих существ. Теперь я знаю откуда он черпал свое вдохновение !
I think the Kruleboyz have some tremendous models when viewed as a range by themselves. I’ve just never been all that convinced that they belong in the same faction as the others, with the more established Warhammer orc aesthetic.
I love the show and I love all you guys but sometimes I think it would be nice if you gave Heresy just the tiniest bit of love. Announced on Monday was the new Heresy campaign book Martian Civil War which looks amazing but no mention of it in the news. In fact you distinctly said that's all the news without mentioning it. Just saying.
Okay will certainly keep that in mind thank you. Although we do record on a Monday so sometimes things do drop in last minute before we film that we don’t catch. I only caught this one yesterday. But certainly will try give love to other stuff as best we can! 😊❤️
@@morehammer Thanks Luke, as I said I love the show and I know deadlines etc. Just feels like Heresy is the forgotten son sometimes especially on RU-vid generally.
In the spearhead rules it mentions that spearhead battles are fought on realm battlefields and they're themed around one of the eight mortal realms. My guess is there's at least 3 other two sided boards coming out. I definitely see a box with boards, terrain pieces and card decks being a thing. I feel this will completely replace Warcry at some point.
Yes Ben! Day of Ascension is my fave 40k book of all time. Tchaikovsky NAILS GSC as good guys. 'So this is what it means to be us... to know and love our own. And if that is Xenos, then how lonely and cold it is to be human.'
I’m really hoping that Spearhead pans out as a viable game. Can’t see myself playing 2000pt AoS, but Spearhead would be just right, if it’s as good as some people seem to say.
@@morehammer i hope its a success too and the do the same with 40k rather than they half baked combat patrol. Make combat patrol its own stand alone rule set
I've never jived with AoS, largely for lore reasons, but I am tempted to give spearhead a try, once my wallet stops crying from the upcoming old world dwarves release.
Ooofff yeh mines still recovering from Tomb Kings. Yeh lore isn’t a big deal with Spearhead as it’s meant to just be a quick fun game system. I enjoyed it. Just hope they continue support for it.
Yeh and there was no design from the outset with combat patrol box sets to be balanced is the issue. Whereas Spearhead was designed as it’s own thing with balance in mind.
For spearhead to survive its needs a few things...to be pushed by GW in GW stores, which would need to allow gaming again (of only spearhead) and for the rules of any minatures inside a spearhead to be free for aslong as they are in a spearhead. Spearhead is a great entry way into AoS for any army but not something that will take over 1k-2k comp games imo. It may see its own comp scene but with the restrictions on unit choices I feel a restricted meta will soon be found that is pretty fixed as you cant mix/match units in/out of a spearhead army.
@@morehammer while I can see them releasing new 'season' boxes with new decks, a mat and terrain like you suggested I cant see them switching up the boxes just due to how they are usually very careful about what units are included in discounted boxes...but who knows time wil tell...
£128 is a lot of cash to spend on your hobby when there's a cost of living crisis. Especially if you have a family to provide for. Just can't justify that kind of spend!
The same thing happened with Dominion, with LGS having to dump stock at half-price some months later. Meanwhile, Indomitus and Leviathan - also on a three-year cycle - sell out so fast that GW has to make reprints. Is it the three-year cycle or that a big box of Sigmarines isn't a big box of Space Marines?
I don’t get how people can complain that Skaventide isn’t selling well enough. It’s not even out for another week! Are we really calling it a failure just because it’s not sold out long before release like all of GWs 40k releases? Are we going from blaming them for FOMO to blaming them for over producing?
I was trying to sell a customer on starting 40k. Guy (in his early 30's) had played a tiny bit in his teens and obviously done some research online before coming into the shop to talk to someone. Knew all about power creep and some armies just doninating for months at a time (eldar, iron hands) I explained the balance dataslate and regular rules updates keeping the game balanced and he was happy with that but the silence that followed was embarrassing when I said the €120 of books he was holding (core rule book, sm codex and DA codex supplement) would be out of date in less than two years and that he would have to go home and print off 40+ pages of updates from 3 different Pdf's. He left everything on the shelf and went home to think about it. This is GW's target audience.
If a product sells out then GW are incompetent with supply chain issues and if it does not then sales are poor. If they make enough for stores and for new people to buy the edition 6 months later is that not a good thing? I would love to buy some of the old kill team boxes or leviathan but have to pay way over the odds via ebay. They rarely seem to re-distribute old stuff, even if it is current edition
Oh no absolutely would expect enough. The point we were touching on is more, less people are buying the starter sets now than before because there’s a new one and new books they have to buy before they’ve even base coated the last set.
I think they may realise as less people buy the starter sets and the books and look for free options. But you’re right they will likely just keep doing it.
If GW wants to update their rules and armies then the rules need to be free or separate from the codices. I would even pay the W+ subscription for total access to all rules, that’s fine it better than $60 for the Tyranids codex that is completely irrelevant at this point in time. My first faction as a new player and the rules are useless. Then I would buy the codex for each army that I own in addition to the sub for rules if the books are worth it. Which they’re not! I bought CSM codex and there’s barely any lore or secondary content.
It's purely the competitive scene that is driving the three year cycle, if you just play with your mates or are in the hobby for miniatures or lore you can essentially play or buy what you want when you want.
Kind of but the issue is if you go to your local club and want to organise a game with someone chances are they’re trying to keep up with every new change and so if you aren’t it leaves you behind. But that’s kind of also the point we were making. Less people are buying these new big starter sets because they’ll just wait for free core rules to drop and save money.
I think a 4 year cycle makes a lot more sense for both GW and the consumer. Release all the tombes/codexs in two years, then the next game gets it's new edition. A constant World Cup/Euros cycle
I wouldn't mind editions getting more time to cook, both getting with adjust the current rules and balancing, and testing new future rules for the next edition. I also got that both more pro players and casual players would be used to test the game, I get the feeling that GW like many of us, can get into a vacum and not thing is as the possibilities that people come up to break the game, and to her balance fun vs competitive. Also this doesn't mean we get less models, they can keep repeating me models, and gives people more time to play with their codex if it comes a couple of years after the edition is released
