I created this channel so that I could renovate my property while learning and teaching people how to, or how not to do things. Hopefully somewhere along the way you and I can help our neighbors and friends develope yard envy 😎😉👍💪
This is brilliant. I have live oak roots that I have dulled axes and chainsaw blades on. That wheel is made for rock so the dirt shouldn’t dull it. I’m glad I accidentally came across this! Guess I’m adding one more thing to my things to get done tomorrow now.
You need to get an airspade and aerate around the tree and install a deep feeding/ watering pipe near the base of the tree.... the roots are spreading like that because it cannot find closer...... you are treating results... not problems.
THANK YOU…. I’ve got 3 Maple trees that are giving me trouble when I mow the yard. Wouldn’t a woodworking roughing gouge wheel work better than a masonry diamond wheel? But either way, thank you for this video. I’ve been scratching my head trying to figure out how to deal with these tree roots without killing these shade trees.
Need some help and glad you posted this video. Have very small lawn and tree in center of lawn has roots going out of each side. Saw your video and thought good idea, but one root is already 5 to 6 feet from my house's foundation wall. Thus my question is don't I need to cut that end of the root totally out of the yard so it doesn't damage my home? Price quote I received to remove the root nearest my house was $400 and honestly can't afford that so looking for a cheaper option.
This is a great solution. My issue is with roots headed toward the sidewalk/concrete damage, but used in combination with cutting some out and grinding others down, this should work well! Thanks for posting.
A cordless recip saw with a 12 inch ugly stick blade on it works too. Just cut through the root and pull it out. I have one of those dewalt disks, the recip saw works much better.
Did you ever stop to think about how the Pine Tree felt about this... of course not, because you only think about your needs... Kidding... this is a pretty cool idea, I'll have to try it out someday! Thanks!
Silly question. Why do you cut your lawn so short in an area that gets 110G heat? Wouldn't the weeds with deep roots have an easier time growing than the grass? You're pointing out clover and I couldn't even tell it was clover it was cut so short. Just asking...
Hey! Does that work great as a stump grinder? I have a nice blade on a new DeWalt grinder and a new blade in the package with no use for anytime soon...... BTW, it's used for removing OLD floor tile thin-set mortar when replacing tiles.........
I would have used a bench planer. Shaves off wood like butter. Adjust your settings I used it on my deck here. It’s easy for me as a woman to use but not many people know about it. Good to know about the tool you have… now I want one.
Great video! My OCD was screaming though because of those branch stumps you left behind - lol. I wouldn't say you "butchered it" as you said, but I would have HAD to cut them flush (or close) and sealed them off. That lawn is gonna look amazing once it all comes in. Too cold here for Bermuda. More or a Tall Fescue area around me. I cracked up about you asking permission to trim it. I had to rewind the first time because I thought I heard you wrong. Again, great video. Thank you for sharing. Be Blessed!
@Rick-the-Swift I think you are right! I finally was able to get Maple tree roots off of at least three of my outdoor kennels. I used a reciprocating saw and it still took me three blades and thought I was going to die I got so hot! Hell I’m old….but Im moving soon and I need those kennels!
