In this video I show you how to kill and control broad leaf weeds, crabgrass, clover, and nut sedge in your lawn. I also tell the steps you must take before and after so that you will have success with your herbicide. Many people fail to follow these steps and assume the herbicide they purchased did not work. If you follow my steps in this video it will not only save you money but help you have a weed free lawn that creates Yard Envy in your neighborhood. Thank you and please subscribe to support the channel.

Great looking yard brother and good solid info. I have Centipede grass and the crabgrass took over and I was left with not many options except to wait till next year and do a pre-emergence. Thanks again.

I think you can add that quiclorac with the spectracide application you did - i essentially think you can mix the two in one application. In fact - I think the spectracide with crabgrass killer is with quinclorac in it - albeit to little.

Been on a binge watching all your videos. I've been wondering if the turf rake attachment on Alley also has the unwanted side effect of freeing up ground space for weeds and unwanted friends to take root? Just a thought. (not saying the turf rake isn't awesome, I think it's neat!)
@YardEnvy
@YardEnvy 3 года назад
True, it's always a possibility but with good weed control practices along with the rake eventually you win the battle 👍

Good info. You think that stuff from big box works just as good as online specialty products?
@YardEnvy
@YardEnvy 3 года назад
Absolutely! Most of the online stuff is the same thing and/or a money game. I look at active ingredients and some of the labels are almost the same for half or a quarter of the price. This goes for all products honestly
@jamesgerboc

Silly question. Why do you cut your lawn so short in an area that gets 110G heat? Wouldn't the weeds with deep roots have an easier time growing than the grass? You're pointing out clover and I couldn't even tell it was clover it was cut so short. Just asking...
@masonsexton2691

So the other stuff will kill the st Augustine grass? I think that is what we have in our Bermuda but I sprayed the spectra code yesterday and the weeds are already dying, I’m waiting to see if that stuff is at Augustine first, I might be wrong on it though, thanks for the vid!!!!

I think the one with the white flowers is Virginia Button Weed. I am in Gulfport and have been terribly frustrated by this plant. It's a native species so it's hard to kill.

In my front yard, I think I have more "whatever that is" than grass. I have moles, who are going after the grubs I guess. Just saw a mole cricket tonight and the dadgum fire ants are building small pyramids. Should I just kill all my grass and start over?

My big question is how toxic is this? My lawn boarders a pond full of edible fish and I have a dog. How long do I have to keep the dog off the lawn and do I have to spray timing rainfall?

I know this is reverse advice, but humor me - Looks like you're trying to keep your lawn at 1" or less. I would suggest you gradually try to make it grow higher and higher. That lawn at 3"-4" would not only look great but would have far less weeds because your own grass would stop sunlight from reaching the level of the soil which is what promotes weed growth. Also, those bare patches would fill in faster and be less noticable in the meantime. Just saying, in all my years of tending my own lawn, regardless of whatever I want to spray it with or fertilize it with, it always seems to do better when I keep it taller. The worst my lawn has ever looked is when I was sick so a friend did me a favor and came and cut it with his riding mower. He absolutely scalped the 4" lawn down to 1". This was late one year and the following spring my lawn was the worst on the block. I had weeds I had never seen before, I still remember googling for the names of some of them to see what I needed to spray them with. I really never recovered from all the weeds until my lawn got back over 3" tall.

I thi k it depends on lawn here i agree but i dont even know what kind of grass mine is but yes generally tallers less weeds less burn
@JackWorkz

Mine stays at 4" cut, except in the spring after the ground thaws I scalp it down to 2" and collect it, then it's usually a month back to 4" for the year

Why on earth do you want to get rid of clover? It's a preferred plant for bees, nitrogenates the soil, stays low to the ground which requires less mowing, is edible, uses less water, and the list goes on. Further, dandelions, the whole plant, is edible. People in the US care way too much about the appearance of their lawns and less about the condition of the soil, water sources, and the overall ecology of our ecosystems.

The best weed killer are the two hands God gave you. Bend over, grab a weed, and pull. If you want to go the extra mile, throw the weeds that have no seed heads, in a bucket, let them putrify, and then feed all the minerals they took up back to your lawn diluted 10 to 1 with water. No toxic chemicals, no pet cancer, you don't have to worry about killing bees or the soil microbes that feed your lawn. The best part is, since you didn't kill all the life in the soil, mother nature might not need to create more weeds again next year to try to bring balance back again. Weeds are nature's band aids. They are only there to fix the soil when its off balance. Get good soil full of life, have no weeds. Try adding compost and overseeding instead. I've never sprayed my lawn with anything since my house was built and have next to no weeds. I add compost every season, a bit of sulphur to acidify the limestone underneath, and anything I find, I rot down and feed it back. My whole neighborhood is spraying with spetracide and you can't even walk your dog anymore without suffocating from all the toxic fumes in the air, much less go work in your yard. The suburban addiction to herbicides is beyond my comprehension. I offered to weed some of my neighbors front yards and it literally took one pair of gloves, a bucket, and 30 minutes of work. It takes longer than that for you guys to drive to Home Depot...
