Great video! When i shoot the iss,the solar panels on the side, they always are dimmer than the main part and when i expose the iss correctly the panels are barely visible

New to astrophotography............super video and very helpful............am I correct in assuming that to get images to edit for a "mineral moon" they have to be taken with a standard camera that shoots in RAW, and not a dedicated astro camera that saves the images as .fit files?
@InsertAstroNameHere
@InsertAstroNameHere 4 месяца назад
I don’t personally have experience with .FIT files, but if they are uncompressed and you can convert to TIFF, then you SHOULD be able to follow from there. But I’m just guessing.

Thanks…..was able to use ASIStudio to stack video, export to .tif and then edit in PS. Clear Skies!

This was helpfull. I'm a Newbe and wondering how insertion of the ADC affects the back-focus setup. On the C6" the back focus is 5" or 127mm beond the Visual Back. Doen't the ADC move the camera beyond that perfect focal point?
@InsertAstroNameHere
@InsertAstroNameHere 4 месяца назад
For planetary or Lunar imaging it shouldn’t matter. Assuming its a standard SCT and not the Edge HD version. Then I believe it matters due to the field flattener.

Seeing you sweating makes me glad I don't live in Alabama anymore. But then I remembered that time I bought a new camera and briefly got confused into thinking it was a cooled model because the sensor was reading -10C. Nope, just that cold out here! The camera loves it, the astronomer not so much.

Correctly collimated SCT stays this way for long time. Approach shown here is not optimal. If mirror flop so substantial that scope loose collimation, that can be detected by eye, then scope has to be fixed or rid of.

Thank you so much for this video! I have a quick question. My images with a 9.25" SCT don´t come out of Autostakkert looking as clear as yours and the details/edges needed for the alignment only become sharp enough as soon as I process the image in Registaxx. So can I just process them in Registaxx first and then import into WinJupos or am I doing something wrong at this point? haha.
