Really good performance but could do without the conductor hogging the limelight. He should place himself subtly on the side and still have the same effect.
I love watching this concert over and over again. What I greatly enjoy is the facial expressions of all, both musicians and singers, while Samuel is singing! Fascinating! ❤
Wonderful and extraordinary! ... actually indescribable, these voices full of wonders, as if it were not of this world. I am looking forward to the concert in my hometown of Gotha, in the renowned Ekhof Theatre of the residential city with the master of his craft Samuel Mariño on 6 September 2024, the highlight of the Ekhof Festival at Friedenstein Castle with arias by C.W. Gluck and W.A. Mozart
Luke 1:46-55 "and Mary said: "My soul magnifies the greatness of the Lord, my spirit exults in God my Saviour, for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen."
This is absolutely the most beautifully performed baroque music I have ever heard! Such an intensity! Musicality! It is a pure joy watching them ! And the musicians are fantastic as well! And where are they ? Such a beautiful “room”!
This is incredible. I've been listening to Jordi Savall's '70s recording of this for years now, but this recording evinces so much sensitivity. Bravo to all involved!
