Well it’s slightly more complex than an engine oil change bc of the way you check the level and sometimes our have to remove the battery on the Lancers to get to the fill plug … but agreed dealer prices are trash and ridiculously more expensive just for their name I say it’s more complex bc Mitsubishi says after filling the the fluid with the same amount you drained out then you have to add even more fluid after removing the lever check plug thats by the tie rod until it starts dripping out and I still don’t know if that’s after letting it run first or not. www.evolutionm.net/forums/mitsubishi-tc-sst-discussion-all-equipped-models/579305-tc-sst-level-check-plug.html
Sounds like me and my step dad when we work on my evo Classic stuff thanks for posting My dumbass didn’t realize there is a third drain bolt now I know for next time have you heard about the metal washable filters that are lifetime what do you think about those?
This is not the right way to change this fluid! If you have a leak and cant spot it, this way will not make shure that you have the right amount in there. And if another mechanic did it the wrong way last time, you will also get it wrong. First do like him, fill the same as you drained, then get it to running temp(think it was about 27 celsius) and drive through all gears. Stop engine. Then open the overflow on the side where the drifveshaft is. Let it drain from running to drops. Fill more oil on the top. The oil will run from the first chamber, making shure that is full over to the next chamber and out the overflow. Then you are finished.
I can literally feel my migraine fading after watching this... I have been freaking out about this. I don't even want to say his much the dealer wants in labour
This change is $750 CAD at my local Mitsu dealership. I can get the fluid and filter for $380 CAD, the time it takes is my time, I choose to not charge myself a cent for it :D
Thank you for making this. I have 2013 ralliart so it only has 2 drain ugs but just that little fluid change makes a huge difference in the car. Smoother shifting
Brother I think you are about to save my kids' Xmas gifts. While the fluid is pricey and all I am sure that if I was to get this done through dealer or mechanic it would doubled the price. I thought this was going to be closed to rocket science. After watching you I am thinking the hardest part will be to see in which site I can get the fluid the cheapest, LOL! THANK YOU CHUCK!
Tyler P Yeah I got the fluid and filter I'm doing it tomorrow :). I have 72k and it shifting kinda funny. Hopefully the new fluid and filter will make it better

Chuck bro thanks for the vid it helps some of us in countries where the evo x isn't common and the service departments try and rape us. I was hoping you had one on how to take the gearbox out to repair it.
