So, this is where I'm going to have an unpopular opinion. I read the Christine book before I saw the movie, and the movie was disappointing. But that's just me.
Working on the next top 10 now (not horror cars) and I have a massive back catalog of videos that need editing. But I also am in the works of making a feature length documentary that fell in my lap by chance that is fully interviewed in terms of the director, the main lead actors and stunt and special effects and crew. Too much to do, not enough of me.
I saw the Car at 6 years old back in 81 , it came on tv one Saturday night & it scared me & I was scared of black cars for a long time , & then I saw Christine & it didn't scare me at all what was sad it got the best of Arnie & he died
I have a question how many vehicles in G1 animated only between cars trucks motorcycles buses heavy equipments trains boats planes rockets ufos are there on list?
Christine is set apart from The Car for obvious reasons. But I praise both films for how they equally gave the best in the supernaturally driven cars genre. Thank you for your video essay.
Great movie, very sketchy acting but great movie and great chases. But; if you're running from the cops I don't think you're best option would be a bright green (or yellow) Charger R/T with 440 badging and a racing stripe! The earlier Impala made much more sense.
Yeah the book describes Arnie fixing Christine by simply pushing or driving her but in the final showdown she keeps trying to fix herself without moving forward. Her body is even off the frame yet components are still repaired and attempted to reattach themselves.
saw this movie at the drive in, in Marshall Arkansas when it came out also saw 2 Lane Blacktop at that drive when it came out they are 2 of the best car movies ever
Chirstine can repair herself even when she cought on fire and the car is really fast and can enter houses to kill people or well jumping into them but he can't repair himself so chirstine is taking the lead
In my opinion, The Car wins the crown for two reasons. It is more mysterious and more evil. The origin of the sentient traits is not clear for either vehicle, but Christine is an actual car model. It came off an assembly line. The Car on other hand seemed to materialize out of thin air. As if a demon just drove straight out of hell. It's also unidentifiable with any other vehicle as far as I know. It's body is unique. Every part of it from the front bumper to the rear bumper. The windows are a unique tent. It has no windshield wipers, insignias, door handles, or side mirrors. If I am not mistaken it even has unique wheels. That makes it more mysterious. And it's more evil because it doesn't care about connecting with anyone. It just wants to kill.
I always hated super pursuit mode and the Corvette forms of kitt. I used to think I was weird for that when I was younger, but the older I got the more people I met that hated it also LOL
I've seen claims that the car was switched at the last minute so the Charger was spared in the crash. I don't think that's true. Cars weren't valued the same in the mid 70s as they are now
