When I was growing up, the one time my stepdad let us sleep in on a Saturday was because he got up early, picked up some BRIGHT BLUE paint on sale, found a rug, and then redid the bathroom on his own. Like, painted over the PAPERED WALLS and ALL the trim and wainscoting in said bright blue. And then he put down this very thin, waiting room-style rug to "protect" the linoleum floors (going around the toilet, under the clawfoot tub, and into every corner)... We also had a dark red walls in the dining room and an offbrand Tuscan kitchen because it was the early 2000's, and I haven't recovered.
I have some very real-looking fake succulent plants, but they are used sparingly. The olive trees are a hard no. I have never seen one that actually looks real….even the $1000 ones. They all look terrible.
the real plants in my stairwell always has leaves all over the steps no matter what i did, now its fake ferns. i have a sign that has been around for 35 years first above grandmas stove, now above my sink. "the hurrier you go the behinder you get. I think its a trivet from the 70s. i love my closed concept Victorian cause im bad at keeping my kitchen and my family room clean, i do wish i could see my kids between the two. its hard to buy a couch that isnt gray.
I come from a family of gardeners. I did not receive that skill set, so I have fake plants and trees all over the house! There's a difference between low and high end fakes!! I love the rustic vessel pots as well!!
I don't like the overdone typical signage quotes (like "live, laugh, love", "laundry/kitchen/bathroom" indicator signs, overly sappy ones, etc.) but I love ones that mock those like that "Fart, Poop, Pee" example 😆Like the difference in having a typical welcome doormat vs. one that says something like "Go Away!"
Hi kiva, well, i DON'T really care what ppl say, i love what i got, and that is what matters 🤪😁😁😁. Love your video, it entertained me a lot. ahahahahaha. Ty 🥰🥰🥰
Agree with farmhouse, but i did put up a "laundry " sign cuz people get confused with the row of doors down my hallway 😂. Also I think it's pronounced "pam-puhs" grass instead of "pom-puhs" 🤣
Not mentioned, but oft protested EXCESS BED PILLOWS, may prove useful in service of the admonishment for couples to "Let NOT the Sun set on your Anger!" The "Pillow Fight" at Day's End may be a dual purpose Tension Reliever & Clearer of Excess to facilitate Peaceful Slumber!!!
Don't like chopped pillows. Too fake. I like classy n relaxed. I dislike carpet in the bathroom!! Disgusting. 🤢🤮. Shag! I think not!!! Open concept! Ok.
A lot if these were "in" for like ten years and now they're getting outdated (farmhouse, gray, open concept). I agree, the modern natural, whatever it's called, is the new farmhouse. When I get a home I'm going to stick with more timeless designs, trends give me anxiety.
Great video. Here are my pet dislikes; 1. Wet rooms where the bath is behind the glass door with the shower. Looks so stupid 2. Toilet brushes left to dry under a closed toilet seat. Gives me the ick. 3. Too much wall paper coming back 4. As in the video, chopped pillows, signs on walls, faux trees 5. Clutter, especially ornaments 6 Starting to disclike the trend of everything being white and copy cat from every youtuber out there 7. Boho and farmhouse styles *. Backsplashes that are the exact same as the benchtop for a so called seamless design. Some look good but most look overkill esp marble
Live in the style you love! If you want a purple room and it makes you happy, live in a purple room! For me: I have pampas grass in my back yard, but not in my house. It's itchy, and I scratch just looking at it. I love my fake plants, flowers, and trees! I don't have to water them, and my dog doesn't eat them and puke on the carpet. Carpet in the bathroom...no. Just no. I need to know where I can get the fart, poop, pee sign...I have a frienenemy that would just hate having this on her wall...lol. I can handle low slung sofas if there is someone to pull me out when I need to get something to eat or go to the fart, poop, pee room.
I appreciate the pacing of this video. While the narrator talks a bit fast, I still like that she moves quickly between topics without stringing out her points.
In the 70s when dried florals and weeds were in my mom had my dad rent a small Uhaul and drove out to the desert and collected big bunches to make huge arrangements 😂😂
This is not on the list and is an outside item usually, and I’ll get attacked for this 😂😂 but if I see one more vertical “HOME” sign, I’m going lose my mind. Why do I hate these things so much? 🤷♀️🤣🤣
Kiva, you are too funny! The design style I can't stand and I find, well, rather aggressive, is Maximalism! While I have never taken a hit of acid, I feel like this is what a "trip" must feel like! lol Love your channel! :)
The bathroom carpet thing was big in the 70's. You could buy carpet in a bag like 4 x 6 or 5 x 8, it had kind of a rubber back. You could cut it to size and also take it to the laundry to wash it. Oh lol I so remember this, oh oh it came in shag mostly!
I wanted to try out a breast reduction surgery too after I’d can get to some exercising when I’m not at work and try to have healthy stuff and resist junk/sweet/savory foods (no matter how tasty they look to me)
