We are two brothers that want to share our love of the outdoors! If you love hunting and fishing this channel is for you! We are avid fly fisherman but we branch out into other types of fishing on our channel as well. We hunt a variety of birds and big game. Episodes of our hunting and fishing adventures are posted every week.
I use a side by side. Benefits are you can use 2 different chockes, you improve your shooting as you only have 2 shots, it will never malfunction, and its a lot cooler to look at and hold
When we look for a new spot, we look for a place that has water (like you mentioned), good feed, and good rock croppings birds can flee to for safety. Along with that, we look for places that are rugged and steep where nobody else wants to walk. Habitat is important of course but you’ll find the most birds in the places where hunters just don’t want to go
Sometimes the waves at this lake get too big for the ladder but most of the time it isn’t an issue. The ladder actually helps with smaller waves because you can wade deeper and not worry about a wave going over your waders.
Hi! New subscriber. I'm almost 75 and still enjoy hiking to destinations, but obviously not too strenuous. Was that the trail from Spooner Lake? There is another trail from the Chimney Beach parking on highway 28 which is a bit more rugged but supposed to be shorter. Approximately 1-1/2 hours. Arrives at dam.
Hi, thanks for subscribing! We took the trail from Hobart Reservoir, the steepest part is the walk from the parking area down to Hobart, the rest of the elevation gains and drops aren’t too bad. I think that route is about 4.5 miles
In the first episode, you usually hit the bird with your second shot. If you wait a little longer, you'll get it done in one shot. good luck lord of mountains 😄🙏
great video! I do a lot of hiking and fly fishing, but I've never had a boat small enough to take to the alpine lakes. I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews on the float tubes you guys used in the video related to leaks and holes after short time use, How would you say the Caddis float tubes are? and also do they take up a lot of space in a backpack? I have a 65 liter pack and it would be cool to do an overnight but still have room for the float tube.
So far the caddis has held up but we haven’t had it out a ton of times. If we were to recommend one though we would say go with the Cumberland by classic accessories. It has been a great float tube for me and we have several friends that all have one. We use to use packable pontoon boats (in our earlier videos) that were made by classic accessories and always had good luck with those as well. As with anything, quality can change over time so recent reviews might be more relevant than mine but hopefully that helps you!
It is a bit bulky because the seat has a large piece of foam (which is great while you are on the water but does increase the size) so it may be hard to get it inside a pack. When I pack it, I have a frame style pack I attach it to
If I were looking to catch a 20+ I'd fish the slow water below Boca below the RV park. It will be hard to keep from spooking but there are lunkers in that stretch of water.
Literally the most enjoyable fishing video I've watched in ages. Thanks for taking us with you. I live in the Sacramento area. That's a makeable trip. So far I've only fished the LT. Some good fish there.
Great video! As an Arizona Quail Hunter, I can assure you the weather isn't like that all the time. I hope you guys don't be strangers, and come back to hunt Az next season. Great work by the doggies! Those were some tough conditions, for sure.
I believe the snow helped with making the Gambels Quail not run as much compared to what I experienced this fall. Your dogs and shooting was spot on. I think “General” Rio looks pretty good for a ten month old pup!
@@ReelsandRidges Don't assume you always have to go to Southern Az to hunt Quail. Sure, that is the only area of the state where you will be able to bag Scalies and Mearns. If that's what you are after, then fine. If you are OK with only Gambles, then they are basically all over the state. They are a worthy opponent, I promise you. And I don't even hunt with a dog. The area I hunt in Central Western Az almost never has snow, and most years has a great number of Gambles.
That Brittany looks like it came out of Spanish corral Sundance kid pup! I have some pups from him. Looking for more lol. They run big and that is the way I like them! You can bring them in but can’t cast them out.
She has gained a lot of confidence this year and has been running big like that. I really like it, especially when I know she’ll hold em until I get there. I agree, better to have to reign them in
We are the breeders of both Annie and Rio. The pup, Rio’s grandiose is “Sonny” Spanish Corrals Sundance Kid and his dam, Jazz, is out of the Tequila Joker line.
Thank you! Midge will be in the next video, she just missed out on that hunt due to a paw injury. She healed up nicely though and did some great work on our hunt in Arizona!
Wow! You guys sure have had good hunting this year in Nevada for chukar. I have had problems before with my gun’s Inertia bolt if it’s not in the correct position. I also have had problems with reload shells not having enough recoil action to properly rotate the bolt and causing a misfire. Good luck figuring out the gun issues. Annie has the bird problems solved.
Yeah it was a good year, we felt pretty fortunate. There seems to be a little slop in the bolt so I think your guess of bolt position is a good one. Going to have to have a professional take a look but luckily I have the off season to figure it out. I could feel Annie’s disappointment alongside my own when the gun didn’t go off lol
@@ReelsandRidgestry this: remove the recoil pad and stock, then spray gun-scrubber in the tube (it has a spring in it) that extends into the stock from the action/receiver. That spring helps the inertia bolt rotate into position and needs cleaning from time to time. Weed seeds and grit can get lodged in the spring.
Can I make a suggestion? When you describe Annie as "The GOAT", use all caps. That way people know it's the acronym for Greatest Of All Time, and don't think you're calling her a farmyard beast that eats anything.
If you spend any time with Annie around the house you may find both definitions equally applicable 😂 but your point is taken, I’ll probably update that!
@@ReelsandRidges I’m hoping you know my comment was mostly tongue in cheek. I meant to end it with an lol but I forgot. Great hunt. I’m getting my Chukar fix through others now. Had to put my GSP down in 2022 and, at 67, I just can’t justify getting a new one. Chukars were by far my favorite. And I believe Annie may very well be the one and only GOAT. She’s quite the dog!
Totally, no offense taken at all. Sorry to hear about your GSP, that is never easy… it’s hard to say goodbye to your hunting buddy. There is definitely something special about hunting Chukar, absolutely our favorite to hunt as well.

Sorry to hear that! How long ago did you buy it? The company we use had some trouble with that at first but that was supposed to be fixed. If you email them and let them know they should send you a new one. We really appreciate you supporting the channel, sorry you had that issue
Seen plenty of sizable browns caught on the Truckee..., a great river for all skill levels… I know there are Rainbows in this river,... but never seen one...just large Browns…! 👍😎👌
