How delightful! I only came to discover The Rifleman a couple of years ago. I thought he was one of the most talented child actors I'd ever seen. I didn't know he also sang! What a gifted performer he was. I was sad to hear of his illness and death. But I am glad for all the video available, so new generations will keep on discovering him.
I KNEW JOHNNY IN PERSON AS MY FATHER HAD A WESTERN TV SHOW IN THE KNOXVILLE,TN MARKET AND HE CAME TO A COOKOUT IN 1986 AT OUR BACKYARD AND I ATE BARBEQUE WITH HIM.I WAS AROUND MY LATE 20S AND HE WAS A FEW YEARS OLDER THAN ME. HE WAS SO SMART AND DOWN TO EARTH. I COULD TELL HOW SENSITIVE HE WAS WHEN HE PLAYED WITH MY Great Dane DOG IN THE BACKYARD FOR ALMOST AN HOUR. HE LOVED NATURE AND ANIMALS AND THE MOST SINCERE PEOPLE DO. WHAT A SPECIAL PERSON HE WAS. REST IN PEACE JOHNNY.
I had such a crush on Johnny! I loved to hear him sing, and still do......what a wonderful voice. So sad to know that Alzheimer's ruined the last bit of his life, and that he's gone. He was very much loved and I know he is very much missed.
I love his voice and style and his comping. He seems to be a very deep person and would have loved to talk with him. Has a personality that you already feel lack you know him.
