Welcome to my channel, you will find here lots of information about the world of Public Domain.
Most of my videos are about, how to search for free images Public Domain images, how to search for free out of copyright audio recordings, also how to sell designs on Etsy based on freely available Public Domain materials.
I am an Etsy seller and many of my videos are circling around selling Public Domain designs on Etsy in both forms, as digital downloads and physical products (posters).
There is a free, open source software called audacity, that should do the job. I was splitting audiobooks into chapters using it, surely you should be able to do the other way.
I've watched your RU-vid videos, they're really cool I have a problem and I want to ask you some questions My redbubble account gets locked every time I can't find a solution I work on a public domain
this does not mean you can do anything you want with it...fun fact: digital music distributors and youtube ID Content refuse the use of public domain music in songs or public domain work...they even don"t accept any sound or effect from a software.
This is a very helpful video. Just to be sure, so the two sites you gave us in the description, we can use all the oldies music from 1900 to 1922 without getting Copyrigt Claim from RU-vid?
In theory, Yes. In practice, any site that you are uploading Public Domain works might give you a Copyright strike, and especially RU-vid. Although if you set that the video can be viewed only in the Countries where the Copyright of the work expired you should be able to monetize it in that particular Country. I've had a YT channel back in 2015, where I was publishing Copyright Free/Public Domain audiobooks read by volunteers, and I was getting Copyright strikes, as far as I remember all the strikes came from Europe, and not from States, however after about 18 months, my channel was closed, due to too many strikes, even though I have asnwered all of the strikes, with links to the materials, and other statements, and all of them were accepted and positively reviewed, and the strikes were cancelled by the other party and RU-vid themselves, all the content on my channel was deleted by YT.
@@PDProfits Hmm, that's actually hard work to know about countries where the rights have expired. Copyrigt Claim is a common occurrence, and it freaks me out. Some countries support "Public Domain" and some do not. I think that every country should adopt it if a certain number of years have passed. RU-vid shouldn't really cause problems when it comes to "Public Domain" music. I've seen a few channels that post oldies compilations without problems, I even think they're monetized. Especially the "Nemo's Dreamscapes" channel, what archive does the owner of that channel have? I really wanted to do at least one or two compilations with oldies songs, but now I don't know what to do because we are not in a position to have a written argument to defend against a Copyrigt Claim or at worst a "Copyrigt Strike". It's a very sad story what happened to your channel, yet each of us invests a large part of our time, effort, hours and hours of work.
This is not public domain, the licence on persuasive map : Cornell is providing access to the digital images, Collector’s Notes and other metadata from the PJ Mode Collection of Persuasive Cartography as a digital aggregate under an assertion of fair use for non-commercial purposes such as education, scholarship and research. See Association of Research Libraries et al., Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for Academic and Research Libraries (PDF), 19-21 (January 2012).
Sadly, here we are in 2022 and so many people have stolen their artworks to the point that there is no Public Domain on the entire website!!! A Copyright notice comes up on the screen and if you don't agree to the notice, the site is shut down!!!
Hello, I am not quite sure that I understand your question correctly. Could you clarify? About your listing? Who you want to answer? What product? Who is asking?
If the image is in Public Domain, then yes, you can use it. But you have to remember about trademarks too, so for example, you can use all the original images/illustrations from 1926 edition of Winnie the Pooh, but you cannot use the book title, and/or some or maybe even all characters from the book, as they are likely to be trademarked. Other than that, all images/illustrations from books published in USA before 1926 are in Public Domain in USA (more likely in other countries too), unless clearly stated by the site owner/publisher/ webmaster, but even though if for example: you'll find an image (published in USA before 1926) that you would like to use it on 1 site (which states in their terms and conditions that you cannot use their materials without their consent), you can do a reverse image check via google, and find other sources/sites which rules are not strict with regards to use, or they are clearly stating that it is in Public Domain and you can do whatever you want. Please, bear in mind that I am not an attorney!! And this is not a Leagal advice! Always make sure to double check, do your due dilligence and if in doubt, hire a copyright attorney and copyright researcher to do the job for you.
Hi Nguyen, please check my other videos, there are a lot of sources, where you can download free Public Domain content. And yes, all these products, are based on Public Domain works (ideas, images, illustrations, books, photographs).
I'm using software called Camtasia. Pretty much the link below sums it up: www.techsmith.com/learn/tutorials/camtasia/animations/#:~:text=Zoom%20your%20video,click%20and%20drag%20the%20playhead.
I watch a lot of crafting videos, where they are making cute bunny pictures and bird pictures, then, sell prints on Etsy, like sublimation prints. They are cute little bunny pictures that look like they are water color paintings, hand drawn, or whatever, they are not a real photo....where would I find something like that, to make prints? They aren't necessarily vintage, but they are just cute little bunnies. I am not sure if they pay for any of their images, or if they are finding free things to use. I know some sell them on Etsy, and some just offer free printables, for anyone who wants to use them, I am sure for personal use. I know they use Canva to make these prints, but I have looked and I don't see anything like wat they are making. I am not sure if you have seen the images, like cows, or lambs, or bunnies, with flowers on their head, for example, that is the type of images I am talking about. Thanks for ALL of your useful information.
I am not quite sure what exactly you are searching for, but that's what I've found on some sites that I use. Some of them are subscription based, some you can buy 1 off. Worth to sign to their newsletters, as they are offering coupons, deals (but please make sure that you are using a 'disposable e-mail' or create new account only for this purpose). In general, use the search bar, you might get different results that what I've got. Also, make sure to read all the licences on these sites, and if anything is unclear, contact the site admin (and to speed it up, the designer if there is an option). Yes, you can do this, and many people are still doing it. Check Amazon KDP requirements for publishing Public Domain works, they are very precise about it.
I want to download expired vintage photographs of cities in North America. For example black and white photos from new york city 1850-1945. The city achieves has them however you have to download them individually one at a time. Do you know where I can download the whole city photographs in one big file download so I dont have to download invidually or scrape the sites?
No, I do not. Definietly not for free. Some people are re-selling them on ebay, so you might get a DVD-Rom or pendrive, full of images for $10-$20, that might save you some time, but unfortunately I cannot recommend the sellers..
@@PDProfits thanks that is a great idea I never thought of! I'm looking into hiring a scraper on fiverr, possibly using python to scrape the sites. do yyou know anything about that?
@@adminaccount848 I do not know anything about that. But some sites (galleries, museums) they have api, and they allow users to use this. But this is upto you to find out how to do that, what sites. You have to research it, or pay someone to do that for you.
No, I cannot. For free you have to download them one at a time. If you want to pay, you can check ebay, as some people are selling bundles of images on DVD discs or hard drives. But I do not know any site that legally will allow you to download 'a lot of images' at once.
Is it legal to sell Open Access images? Some art galleries and art museums publish it publicly. is it okay if we sell the public images we downloaded here on etsy? do you mind if I download a public domain painting from the national gallery of art and sell it on etsy?
It is legal to sell Public Domain images, however you cannot use Trademarked names/phrases when listing the images, so for example, now since January original edition of Winnie the Pooh 1926 book is in the Public Domain, you can use the text and line drawing from that book (that particular edition only), but you cannot use 'Winnie the Pooh' - name/phrase becasue Disney has Trademarked this. So you need to watch for things like that. It is ok to sell Public Domain images on Etsy, you can check this video, where I show over 100 different digital products that are in the Public Domain and sold on Etsy: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CHXVwUsXpUA.html I do not mind what you do with Public Domain images, they are yours, they are mine, you can do whatever you wish. I would like to suggest to edit/change them, to create something new, based on them, there are already 1000s of people selling the same images unedited, so stay original, you can make more money that way.
