Well, my internship was in Canada, a location my school doesn’t recruit for. I’m definitely not discounting how amazing the Cornell network is, but just because you go to Cornell doesn’t mean you’re automatically guaranteed an amazing internship. The brand name only carries you so far.
Of course! You don’t need a brand name to be able to get into an MBA school. I have plenty of classmates who have started their own businesses and don’t have job experience from a prestigious company, but they have shown how their work experience has shaped them for a leadership program such as an MBA.
I was asked mostly technical and fit questions. Since these interviews were conducted internally via the Cornell network we didn’t really have to pull up and do an Excel test. However, I do understand that they do that for external applicants.
Wealth management is still awesome and maybe you enjoy it better. WLB is definitely better 👍🏼 Is it a sort of AM / WM hybrid like at some banks or purely WM?

Yeah, so every bank has a diversity symposium, for people who are Hispanic, Black and for Women. It just normally just a diversity inclusion summit. Each bank has a different name for it.

Do you think it’s worth it to take BITS Hyderabad in the ISA category? I got electrical and electronics engineering. I’m also curious if the experience is any different for the international students, and if it’s difficult to cope with the classes.
I think it depends on if you went to high school in India or not. I felt like the classes were difficult for everyone, (not just international students) but the professors are amazing and very welcoming. They are on top of their game and are always willing to lend a helping hand if you don’t understand something.

Most of the time no, they get local job offers. I was probably the only person in my batch that got a job internationally. However, I’m a Canadian citizen so that definitely helped.

Again, Cornell has a huge focus on community, I would try to lean into that a bit and stay connected with the admissions committee and ambassadors on campus.
Super helpful video Ekta! Would you recommend letting the adcom know about another offer to a peer school in a waitlist update or would that spook them in terms of protecting yield?
Thanks for watching! I would definitely recommend trying to show the school that they are ‘the only one’ (as corny as it sounds lol). But definitely use the peer school strategy when negotiating a scholarship offer post admit. Hope this helps! 😀
Hello mam i am Abhijeet. I have done bcom passed out in the year 2022 . I dont have any work experience i want to do mba(2025) from cornell . I emailed them if i am eligible for 2 year mba programme or not they said you are eligible. Can you tell me what should be my gmat score and what should i done like (courses, certification, internship) do i have any chance?? Please guide me
Hi Abhijeet, thank you for watching. You said that you don’t have any work experience. To be a competitive applicant for any MBA program, even Cornell you need some amount of work experience. Since you’re 2 years out of university, I would recommend first applying for an internship/job to gain that work experience and then looking into MBA programs.
@@athena2597 I have applied for internship will 4 month offline and some 2-3 month online internship would be enough for Cornell plus if I did well in GMAT ?
@Abhijeet-47 it’s on the lower end of work experience. Most schools require 3-5 of work experience before applying. At this stage, I would recommend focusing on your GMAT score (and getting a high GMAT) and also working for some time (to gain experience in the business) before starting your MBA journey. @@athena2597 immediately after graduation I want to get into management Consulting and in the long term I will use my B School tag and networks to raise funds for my startup in travel and tourism sector.

I forgot to mention that i have received 3 international and 67 national awards in robotics during graduation..also had launched a startup but had to wind up in 2021 due to covid..would this help?..thanks

Hey Utkal! Thanks for watching, so the rank of your university is not that important of a factor as compared to the rest of your application. Your short term, long term goals and the story you tell to connect all of these things matter a lot more than the university you went to. Hope this helps!
Again, the work experience is crucial when sitting in the classroom. At business school, you’ll be doing case studies which will require you to draw from your own experience. GMAT scores tend to be more of a check in the box rather than something that sets you apart from other candidates.

Hey Ekta, Thank you for the video helpful, and a good essay as well, i am from Africa and when I think about applying for a scholarship the first thing that demotivates me is my English, I can write pretty well but when it comes to speaking I seem to catch my breath now and then, if you could give me some tips on how to speak consistently that would be great, thank you!
I think one of the biggest challenges to speaking well is having the courage to do so. One tip I can give you when it comes to speaking well is to make sure to slow down when you speak, it’ll make it easier to catch your breath. Also recording your self and speaking in front of a mirror helps with confidence. I hope this helps!
Given that your background is in engineering, did you at any point consider going the Digital Technology Immersion (DTI) route for your MBA? Why/why not? How is DTI different from IB at Cornell (in terms of recruitment, job opportunities, difficulty, etc.)? Thank you!
I felt that the DTI immersion prepares you more for tech-based management roles and I wanted to be a part of the business/finance side of things. I think that DTI is great for those who are interested in tech/have a tech background and want to stay in that field. It just wasn’t the path that I chose. Hope this helps! 😀
At any university, you can take stem courses and apply for a STEM OPT visa. That way, you can stay in the US for longer but you can include it in the requirements for the visa. Basically take the Fashion Luxury MBA and add the STEM courses as electives. Hope this helps and good luck!
Hello, I got GMAT waiver for 2 year MBA program in Cornell. But I am scared about my application like it will get selected or not..... i will get interview call or it will be kept on waiting list. I really not sure. I have given by best in my application to describe me, my life and my professional life (full time 5 yr work ex in MNC) and i am also managing a youtube channel. Can you please tell me what are the chances of acceptance in my case for admission or for interview ?
Hey, first of all, don’t worry you’re doing a great job! Applying is a really hard thing for a lot of people to do and I’m really glad that you’re trying to apply yourself. Second of all, I think with interviews it’s about your personality more than anything, I can’t tell you for sure what your chances are with the a GMAT waiver and the work experience, but I hope that you do get in. Hi Ekta, Thank you for the insights. I am currently in the process of selecting photos and I had a doubt, In the image for example your first image where you showcased you have travelled, was it more than one images collaged together in a single photo or was it a single image of a particular place from all the places you’ve traveled
So I did a really cool thing, where I took a map and dropped pins on where I had travelled. You could use the same idea or make a collage. Whatever works best for you.
To apply for an MBA, you need work experience. There are some programs that don’t need a lot of work experience. However, I don’t think that those are worth it.
Hi, so work experience is necessary because when you’re in classes you need to be able to participate fully. The more work experience you have, the more you can provide insight on case studies and assignments etc.
