indeed thinking man ....... good defence for the head but a ruptured liver or spleen or a pair of broken balls or the heightened center of gravity (hands up) leave a lot to lady luck and the morgue ...... not to mention knife attacks and the reduced visibility of the enemy s moves ...... a boxer a wrestler or a judoka would tottaly wipe out those guys .Fashion in the arts of survival is a bad bad thing

Lol look at the boxing, I can see many openings on the body of a boxer when I watch payper view matches. Even Mayweather sometimes gives out openings, there is no perfect guard there is always that one annoying punch or kick that will hit you, and yet amateur boxers are feared by the gangster wanabe's in our alley. In this promo vid, they shows the way of defending yourself against street thugs or muggers and not some master MMA fighters, or some fantasy fight that you've always dreamed of.

This is how you defend against a mugger, or fight on a bar, or getting schooled by bullies.

@TheAllAroundG
@TheAllAroundG 12 лет назад
absolutely...and I've been training in KFM for a year now and I'm still at the "white grade level" but I understand well beyond that...KFM doesn't have all the answers and doesn't claim to; but they have certainly got a good idea of how to train for the chaos and close quarter grappling that a street fight denigrates into

Bettter than nothing but it sure seems to leave too many openings to the body. Great if your opponent is only head hunting, but not something I would rely on.

If your anywhere around 6'3" and weigh around 210lbs, you have the potential to fight profficiently using kfm... And that wieght and height ratio is derived from Batman arkham city. I understand its just a videogame, but if you can grasp just the idea of you taking down a whole squad of thugs, and focus on that Idea, you can achieve and master the art of kfm

uhh... do you Gus even see the target?? he's aiming for the solar plexus, he's clearly hitting the mitt with his head to toughen it up and simulate hitting the chest.. which in case you didn't know isn't as hard as the human skull

@Orcazoccola -- who the fuck cares about belts? the only important thing is to learn how to hit damn hard, how to defend the enemy's strikes, how to grapple and fight on the ground, etc etc
@EbonZEN
@EbonZEN 13 лет назад
@Orcazoccola all a black belt means is that you've mastered the "basics", that has always been the case. 2 people with black belts could be easily on different levels of expertise depending on the gyms/dojos/schools requirements. Even then that style of fighting can either benefit/hinder that students expectations so it won't matter how good they become. What's bullshit are the pussies who've never fought and hide behind a computer screen (not calling anyone out or insinuating)

I have worked on the door for years and looking at this from the point of view of street/bar fighting ( lets be honest - I call it alchohol fighting ) rather than from the point of view of trying to excel in MMA competition it makes alot of sense. I haven't studied Keysi ( I trained from a young age Boxing, Thai, BJJ and DBMA) . Real fighting looks alot like these pad drills, and with the primary target usually being the face/head, most assault victims curl up anyway. Why not train it?

One question, why is my attacker going to move his entire body from the hips because I slapped his arm pretty hard?

Great thing about this style, it focus is on developing ones INSTINCT and that my friend is the most effective weapon on the street.
@clearcombat
@clearcombat 13 лет назад
Do you like it better than JKD? I like some of what I see and it is effective for not getting hit by multiple attackers, but as a one on one I train in a street MMA called Clear Combat fighting method. It is dirty fighting with the discipline of the MMA world. They should show more of the other aspects of KFM. I know they are teaching KFM to MMA fighters so far as the ground and pound is concerned.
@clearcombat
@clearcombat 13 лет назад
They use their Hollywood connections to promote this aggressively. This was really developed from JKD. You can see a lot of sameness. The story of the spanish gypsy fighting is hard to swallow and I think they created a story for its birth. Show business is obvious in KFM.

@luiscofresi is not so easy rec a real fight... but i tried, and a friend of me too... believe me, that is really intresting... now u see only the top of the iceberg, the real training with real instructor will show u the real use of KFM.

@odin2358 i do Keysi and i assure u that the elbow is one of the strongest part of our body. if u don't move and you receive a punch on the elbow, the one feel pain (believe me i try in training) is not u!

hoenstly, i have been doign this in NY for 3 months, you need to try it before you knock it. Seriously
@pragzter
@pragzter 14 лет назад
@pragzter ok I tried it in class. It worked against most of the high strikes (punches and kicks). Had to drop down to defend against lower strikes. There is a certain amount of vision loss due to the hands covering the eyes. But overall, it's a good defensive technique. So thumbs up!

@hamo1701

@CBoavida I think that may be the point, every block seems to be a strike, in the guard position the defender's elbow intercepts the attacker's bicep. ouch
@kwmyth79
@kwmyth79 14 лет назад
@09ZombieHunter you may have already figured this out, but in case you haven't at 5:00 you see him blocking a punch with the top of his head, which is the hardest part of your body. No it is not a head bunt to the arm, so not a FAIL, but very effective. This allows him to keep a hand on the other guys face, while punching with his other hand... again very effective
