Mee Sou Ray was the indian name. The like to drop the name letter of words. Pari not Paris. Making it Mesuorrr. (roll those rs) The Anglos heard that as Mesourr eh, which they pronounce "ee". I do both depending on close it is to me personally with out thought. St. Louis is in Missouri (ee). I was born in Missourah.
A lawyer got my friend out of trouble in an accident by stating, in the dialogue between the two lawyers during litigation, that is was ILLEAL to blow an automobile horn on Sundays.. Also, unless it has been repealed, it was illegal for Missouri State Patrolman to 'chew tobacco' on duty!
I do think Missouri would have passed those laws back in the day, so it's possible! 😂 Also- I kind of hope that would be illegal? That's such a strange way to pass the time, but I don't know much about it 🤷🏻♂️
Used to go out on Zombie Road back in the early to mid 1960s with high school friends to drink and party. It was a creepy and desolate place where we all told stories of what we had heard about its past be we never really saw anything.
Did you know that I was the first and only Native American elected Mayor in Cass county Mo? As far as i know I still hold that record! Im mixed blood Crow and Blackfoot and white.
I can't speak for the whole state ,but the Ozarks......We moved to mo 5 years ago and it has been the worst 5 years of our lives, first, the locals DO NOT WANT YOU HERE, if the idea of living next to run down shacks with creepy crawly looking hills have type people with guns interests you then go ahead. ,SECONDLY, you can't hike the land, you will get eaten alive by bugs! Don't do it, it's NASTY!
That happened to me at Walmart. I was struggling getting my son's new 4 wheeler in my car and someone came and helped me and the guys wife took my empty cart. It was helpful and I was thankful.
I think you could even break down the midwest into different factions. Having grown up in one "faction" (MN) and now living in Springfield for a few years, I see this area as where the midwest meets the south because there are little habits from both culture here. And I like that. Love the 2 finger wave on the backroads. the farther you get rural, the more you see it. You feel bad when someone gives you one but you don't have enough time to reciprocate
That's an interesting way to see it. There are some subtle differences from here and the far North, but it's nice someone has a direct experience to see it!!!
I remember in the 1950's part of the sidewalk on the northside of the square exploded. Apparently there was a spring underneath that built up pressure and ...boom!
St.louis is always #1 on worst cities to live in because of all the crime , homicides, murders etc. I lived in STL from 97-08 and everyday I woke up there was always a murder, homicide, etc on the news, when I left in 2008 the city was horrible, they try to make STL look pretty on commercials and have all the celebrities endure STL but none of them live in STL, they only come to visit. If u wanna live in mo, make sure it southern,mo
As a storm chaser who lives in Springfield, this is actually not a bad take. If you look at the actual tornadoes that have happened here, it's actually been outside of "traditional Severe Weather Season" and more in fall and winter. Worst Tornado to hit Springfield was on November 29, 1991, F4 hit Southside of Springfield.
Wow!! I'm glad to get your take on this. I don't think I've ever met one, so you have to be pretty brave to chase them down. That's probably not a venture I would take! But I'm impressed that you can! 🤩
@wiserlivingrealty love your channel, grew up here and went to school in Republic, sorry but we are the true Tigers haha 😄 😉 Can't stand Willard 🤮 anyways keep doing what you do! Would love to stop by and give you a tour of my chase rig
@wiserlivingrealty The only other place I have ever gotten a burger as good as Cedars is the original Cheeseburger in Paradise ar Margaritaville in Key West. And huge breakfasts for 10 bucks
I've been to the place Chateau Charmont, also known as Castleshire. Beautiful sight and they have a website where you can ask for more information and get in contact directly with the owners.
Springfield actually has a kick ass city bus network. It runs til dang near midnight and it covers the entire city map. On weekdays CU Transit runs main routes every 30 minutes.
Can’t believe I found this video! I’m going thrifting tomorrow and was just googling what was available here. I just moved here a month ago. Thank you so much I am so excited now to go check these out
One of the best ones apparently closed a few years ago... On Glenstone, off to the side of an old strip-mall, there used to be this pizza place that had perfected the art of super-thin, super-crispy cracker crust pizza. I forget the correct name of the place, but everyone I know down there just called it "Two Lesbians' Pizza"... because it was owned and run by a longtime lesbian couple. So nondescript-looking that you could be forgiven for thinking it was a laundromat. Nothing nondescript about the pizza, though! It's what we call a "St. Louis style" up here, but THESE results kicked any other cracker-crust pizza right to the curb. The first bites would shower you with crumbs; it was SO crisp that the crust would become something like you see with a properly-made Cuban sandwich, with crumbs flying everywhere on every bite. Supposedly the two lesbians finally closed the joint to retire. Very cool. But the pizzas were non-duplicable. Also, the joint had been around since the mid-1950s, which is an astonishing track record. Definitely missed by my partner and I.
@@wiserlivingrealtyAs it turns out, I had that wrong-ish. Our friend Phil pointed out that they moved to Commercial, and while the original owners had long retired, Pizza House is still a thing! Almost makes me want to jump in the car and punch it for one of their ultra-thin slices of heaven!
Thanks Jesse, I have lived in Ozark for 33 years and I still don't know the best restaurants in the area. I hate to waste money eating out because we only do that about every three weeks or so. We like any cuisine as long as it's done well. We could never visit all of the places available in this lifetime, so I want/need to know the best. thanks again.
Also, what was done here was a simple search and then repeated. Anyone should know that the default order on any site is NOT based upon reviews or quality. It's based upon who will give the higher percentage to the online company.
Do not remember name, but near Columbia MO, the guide said we are the only cave tour that don't claim Jessie James was here. The county I live in Missouri supposed to have the most caves in the state. Me and buddy digging into what opened big. we though found new cavern then saw my uncles name on wall. Its by river, been flooded lots. There is the "Tilley treasure" story. They been looking for it for long time. got an idea they are wrong spot. flip the map, it leads to a diff spot, my dad has found gold coins there
@@wiserlivingrealty There is book about it. Been long time since read it, a confederate sympathizer buried gold but died, (if i recall by hanging) before told family where it was. Im sure google has the story.
There are dozens and dozens of floats not included in your list. From flat, slow floats to dangerous whitewater. The Saint Francis hosts the state championship whitewater races every spring. The Black River is considered the cleanest river in the state. The whole southern half of Missouri is filled with floatable rivers.
Hemingway's is a good pick; it's pretty easy to miss/forget with being located in Bass Pro (ergo, not the first place people think to go to get a bite). Also, I apologize to be THAT guy, but while I DO agree that we have the BEST (and original) Bass Pro Shop, it's not the largest--that goes to the Memphis pyramid location by about 35,000 sq ft more. That's the kind of setup we need for our collection space--lol. We love the effort that went into the Ozark Mill renovation. Though I'd never get Lady Laci to partake in the bridge dining--more for the account of her being a redhead and sun...they don't get along. ha ha Sadly, we have a friend coming in from WA state but won't have the time to take him to Lambert's because we know, we KNOW he'd love it! The Alamo is a good one too; we adore grabbing a bite while watching a new movie and their themes that switch out per films is a lot of fun and means there's almost always something new to try. We're Top Brass there; they're our favorite theater too!
It's okay, I'm glad you mention it! The Memphis location is that 535,000 feet, however, if you take our Springfield location of 500,000 square feet and add in Wonders of Wildlife (that's a part of the same building) of 350,000 square feet it comes out to a whopping 850,000 square ft building!! They really should include WOW in the experience since it's all connected together, and all owned by the same company. When you do it's almost TWICE the size of what the Memphis one is. 😂 But if you just accounting shopping only, technically it's a bit less. They really should include it all since it's all a part of the Johnny Morris experience. So many people don't know this though! I'm glad you enjoy our picks for unique dining! We have some good ones.
@@wiserlivingrealty And boom--THAT is how you do it folks! Ha ha, spoken like a TRUE realtor. 😁 Nicely done! And agreed--it should absolutely be included; in fact, WoW should be free to Springfield, MO citizens as a bit of a benefit to living in such an excellent city. Just sayin'.
I ate breakfast at Gailey's regularly starting in 1978. 1 egg, 2 strips of bacon, toast and cup of coffee $1.25. Joe had his pharmacy in the back at a little window. Beulah watched the cafe and Eileen was the cook. If you sat at the bar she was cooking directly in front of you. It was one of a kind and probably didn't seat 25 at the time.
We tried the Ozark mill last February. Very good food, even the green tomato cake! We also tried Lamberts. Jesse is spot on with the Cracker Barrell vibe. Still gotta try Braums for a burger and shake next time we get down that way.
I've not tried the green tomato cake! It sounds intriguing.🤩 Interesting choice of going with Braums. I know there are a lot of areas of the US that really enjoy them but we have so many in the area, we don't tend to think of it!
Honestly, never been to Lamberts lol😂 even in college. What happens if you can’t catch 😂Sports are not my forte 😅. The rooftop lounge is probably my next date night 😂
Oh I'm sure the rolls go on the floor often. Too bad! They wont ever get eaten. 😂 Thankfully I think they hire boys off the baseball team to make sure it's accurate! Also, the rooftop really is beautiful so I hope you have a great experience!!! 🤩
