Not sure where Rob is coming from but he and Shelton(2 of my all time favorites) have a lot more in common with the AEW style than a "mat wrestler". Them and 2 Cold Scorpio were some of the biggest influences on the modern style.
The problem isn't whether or not Vince told someone to do PEs or work hurt. The problem is that as THE boss he fostered an exploitative atmosphere where if you weren't working hurt or on roids there was a ceiling for you. It's called plausible deniability. A great example is Stossel. Vince never told anyone to attack Stossel. But he did use the "meddlesome priest" tactic and loudly complained "I wish someone would take care of him" or something to that effect...
Im glad RVD after everything he put his body thru , that he can still articulate himself real well n still has a good grasp of his mind, shouts out to him man, a true legend
I will say after rewatching some raw episodes I saw that DX had dumped a pile of feces on himself, Shane & the Spirit Squad 😂😂 I do remember hearing about a lot of wrestlers saying Vince would never let you try something if he couldn’t do it…🤔 either way disgusting 🤮😂😂😂
I can understand, in Italy where I grew up they are perfectionist, if you grade with 99/100 you get only negative shit for missing that 1 point on 100. I'm from Veneto, but Rome decide. North Italy, before the Americans decided so, was full of Plants of weeds.. It's like Florida having the power to decide the Utah rules. Does it make sense? Church abuse kids and fucked up kids, they can't defend themselves when they think they are with a trustable figure!! Bad parenting, giving the woman all the power, no prostitution, no weeds. Basically they are looking for raise slaves. It's always been an handicap match 1 vs 3/4 in this life. My grandfather is like Vince, sometimes happens he made mistakes, but he try to do something and most of the time are successful. Other do nothing and only try to blame and blocking others.. History is not to be forgotten, Bruno Sammartino was italian and escape the war..
Rob, you’re one of my all time favorites as is Steve Austin. This question is more specifically for you. I had learned the old mentality even when training to be a wrestler on the independents that if you don’t work, you don’t get paid. Was the ignorance toward concussions with some guys more on they knew they weren’t getting paid if they took time off so they kept their concussion symptoms to themselves? Or was it more of the case that guys just didn’t believe in getting symptoms from concussions? Just curious to what the in depth mentality was back then.
I agree that it's hard to blame someone for someone else's personal choice. But at the same time if a huge amount of people in my company are doing the same thing or forming the same habits, I'd have to step back and look at what I'm doing as the boss that is encouraging the behavior/work environment
Rob actually PROMOTED daily Kratom use as natural and safe 🤣 Then, he admits he's using non prescribed Phentermine and described it as 'METH'. Rob needs an intervention. Does he have a handler? He's going to end up in trouble, mark my words 🧐 I am pro drug, put anything in your body so long as you don't hurt others. Rob is PUBLICLY PROMOTING DANGEROUS activities. The drug interactions with Phentermine during a BSL3 that is vascular, cardio, and neurotoxic. Rob's advice could legitimately kill someone. Source: RN/ICU John Hopkins, OHSU, NIH.GOV, MAYO 😊
There's something to be said about assuming personal responsibility for your decisions as a wrestler working under Vince, that being said, that schedule alone back in the day is certainly a factor to consider when it comes to many feeling the need to consume substances in order to cope.
Don't submit to all the negativity on youtube Rob, that wouldn't be fair to all of us other's who respect all your wise and experienced conversations. RVD
The NFL is happy to let you b distracted from the root issue by focusing on the head. The fact is most concussions come from body contact (tackles). No matter what your brain is whiplashing in your skull when you get hit, even when it’s not a hit to the head. Any neurologist will tell you this. The NFL knows this, and they also know they’d have to eliminate tackling altogether to prevent concussions.
love the show RVD, and your co-host is a cool guy as well i just wish he'd be a little less agreeable all the time, would be nice to see some contrarian opinions. Not just for the sake of it but i'd love to dig deeper into what The Whole F'n Show has to say
I think i agree with Austin in a lot of what he said. In fact, I'd argue that Benoit tilted his head a little too much. Most wrestlers keep their head bounced off one way, Benoit tilts his head in multiple directions. Even as a teenager, i thought he'd eventually get hurt. Because he TILTS too much.
The problem is people are too quick to dismiss *analysis* of his actions as justification. You can see it here in these comments. It’s what makes crime prevention so difficult.
Rob does need to educate himself a bit before talking about American history. "Every white family has black slaves" is just wrong. Do you know that less than 2% of the American population were slave owners? It was the rich elites who were slave owners, mostly the same wealthy families who still run the government and big corporations today. And it was white liberty minded Christians who fought for freeing the black slaves and changing the laws. Hundreds of thousands of white men died in the war to free slaves. And keep in mind, the white man did not invent slavery, it's as old as prostitution around the world and is still happening today, even in the US in the form of human trafficking. Just good to keep in perspective. History is never black and white, excuse the pun ;)
I haven't seen the episode with Austin but i did see a clip of it. I want to give Austin the benefit of doubt that his words were taken out of context and that it was more in line you can't blame CTE for everything or for someone's actions. Not that it doesn't exist. Because you are going to say that both Wrestling AND the NFL doctors don't know what they are talking about after all these years?
