RVD on RU-vid!? thats AWESOME! dude you are one of my fave wrestler ever! move like a cruiserweight Size of a heavy absolutely One of a kind! thanks for the many happy years rvd!
Hey Rob, first of all I have to thank you & your colleagues for putting your bodies on the line for us. Not everyone is a super critic & we just love the escape in watching wrestling. 😎. I want to know how you have kept yourself in such great shape after all the years wrestling? It’s great to see cm punk, aj styles & randy orton look better than ever.
I agree with Rob that guys obviously getting into position to catch a dive makes it look fake and that the Tombstone is supposed to drive someone's head into the mat so when it is too far off it looks fake. I also agree with the host that says after learning about concussions a lot of us look to make sure contact wasn't made so that it was done "safely"
Undertaker and Kane get a lot of free passes for me in terms of believability, including the Tombstone. I'm usually so invested in their character and matches that knowing it's done safely won't take me out of the moment. If anything, the level of trust and respect that I have (and of course that most other wrestlers have) helps me stay in the story without being afraid that they're gonna slip up and actually kill somebody. It's sort of like many of RVD's more theatrical moves. If anyone else was to emulate them it would look out of place, but he does his unique style and works it into logical exchanges so well that just looks right. You can really feel the weight and momentum behind things, the concern/urgency when he's cut off, and it all adds to an overall athletic presentation.
I find it funny that he mentioned not liking his kicks edited with TV cuts. Jean Claude Van Damme mentioned something similar once in an interview about how Bloodsport edited his kicks to, in his opinion, look like shit.
Hey Rob I wanna start off by saying you are my favorite wrestler of all time. I just want to ask who were some of your favorite wrestlers to compete against, and why?
Rvd I heard Conrad Thompson say the other day that he is not aware of you ever missing or falling short on the van terminator (also known as the coast to coast) is this true?
