Hello, thank you for your gluten information. After going to many, many gastrointestinal doctors and consulting with my primary doctor, 10 years ago I was tested through a breath test, I was diagnosed with IBS, SIBO and lactose intolerance. They also tested me for celiac and it was negative. I was feeling very bad and as time went on my gut (lower intestines) would hurt so bad I would double over in pain seconds later I was running to the bathroom, back and forth for an hour, omg what pain I had to tolerate. Almost two months ago I sat down at my computer and looked up celiac they asked me to stop eating wheat for 3 weeks after the 3 weeks they asked me to do a test, eat some wheat and if the pain came back I was gluten sensitivity . I couldn’t believe what I found out, that pain STOPPED, no more running to and from. I only eat root food, chicken, seafood and non dairy products. I never want to feel that pain again. ❤
After making sourdough for years I found out multiple in my house have celiac. I have tried to make gluten free sourdough a few times and yesterday was finally a win! Let me know if you want the recipe. It is legit!
For us in Florida we don’t get out of the 90’s until late October. We also don’t have many changing leaves. Fall is the one thing I miss about living in New York. 🍁🎃 Love your new Fall decor!
Love the decor. I love your style. I had to smile when you showed the turntable on IG the other day. In our storage area under the basement steps, we have turntables, receivers, speakers and countless milk crates of vinyl records. I can't bring myself to get rid of them. Growing up during the 70's and 80's, was an amazing time for music. I ended up re- purchasing through the years almost all of my albums on CD's:) Your bread looks so pretty. I mill my own wheat berries and bake all kinds of yummy things, but I have never tried my hand at sourdough. It is my favorite kind of bread, but the idea has always intimidated me. Maybe some day.
I absolutely love fall and getting ready for all the warm, cozy things! So funny Kendra, my husband is the same way, he loves Thanksgiving and makes sure we all know it and he tries hard to keep all Christmasy things till after Thanksgiving has ended but having girls they just love all things cute and can’t wait to decorate and listen to Christmas songs and watch all the Christmas movies haha it’s so fun! Also, your sourdough bread looks amazing! That’s so exciting!
Your bread looks great. I recently found Grant Bakes here on YT and he had a sourdough recipe that doesn't require any stretching and folding. The bread came out so good and so much easier.
This is so helpful! I have four kids and a mini van - the space is nice but we really don’t use the trunk for anything other than groceries and after driving my husbands model 3 every chance I get, I am definitely considering this! I’m happy you compared it to the X as well. While the captains chairs and extra height would be great, I don’t think it’s worth the significant extra cost for a car that’s basically the same as the y
Barbells are not low Fodmap. Be very careful with these bars. Polydextose is very bad on the colon. This bar also has maltitol and milk. Maltitol is very bad on the digestive track.
Aww it’s been many many years I’ve seen your videos back when you were pregnant and your videos popped up you and your husband are the same as I remember! Looks like you have a beautiful family ❣️❣️
Still am! I can eat a little Pure sourdough and be fine, but lately I have eaten a little too much and got a snarly stomach ache. So I need to chill! 😆
I like how you let their kids decorate their room however they want, and how respectful and understanding that they want their own rooms. That’s not something you see very much anymore
I think you need to build more tension when you are shaping. I don’t even know how to begin to type an explanation but maybe you can Google how to build tension when forming a boule. I do turning of the loaf while gently using your hand to tuck its edges under itself. And I do counter scoots 😂 Loving this series!
We do all about reading also. I did level 4, which is the last level. Many people skip it. I think it’s important. It teaches a lot of sounds not taught in the other levels. As well as teaching words that have roots in foreign languages which is super helpful
You don’t need a whole bowl of starter it’s just wasting flour and get a scale and weigh by grams do measure 1-1-1 ratio starting with 50 grams of starter! That’s all you need to start with 😊
Blaspheming the Christian faith and the Last Supper is unacceptable. Thank you for pointing out not supporting the Olympics and not being afraid to speak up Kendra. Love your family and your homeschooling journey. God bless 🙏🏼
I encourage you to make a sandwich loaf 🍞 when I was newer to making my sourdough I really enjoyed making sandwich bread more than the artisan loaf and it gave me more confidence and a good feel for how you want your dough etc…sandwich loaves are so much easier than the artisan style. Plus we use it to make the kids sandwiches so it’s much more practical for us. I’ll attach a recipe or video link ☺️☺️
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pnYN2-HPoeI.htmlsi=zNio_saQvSqyxdx- This was a game changer for me when I was a beginner!! The most simple and easy recipe. After doing this a few times you get more and more confident with handling the dough and branching out to other recipes 💜💜 can’t wait to watch you continue your homemade bread journey!!!
Another quick tip: if you get a smaller bowl to refrigerate your dough in, it will come out of the fridge more round and will pop up better as opposed to starting out like a pancake and having to rise up. Hopefully that made sense 😆 There are so many things that you will have to learn on your own, but we can all help each other with quick little tips that we have acquired
Yay! Just keep on going with it and it will get really easy once you’ve done it that dozen times. Quick tip about the bottom getting dark, you can also put a single sheet of aluminum foil on the rack below your Dutch oven and it just helps the bottom not to get as brown.
Kendra! You should watch/read Claire Saffitz’s sourdough tutorial on the NYT! She has a video on RU-vid and the full recipe guide is on NYT Cooking. It’s by far the most in-depth guide I’ve used and provides the best results even for beginners!
Kendra, it looks great. I think you are over proofing it a little. I also live in California and only leave my bread out on the counter eight hours max and then put it in the fridge overnight due to our heat. Give it a try and see if that might help it puff more🫶🏻 for your first two you did amazing!!!
Okay great advice! Currently just finished my folds for my 3rd loaf and did two extra rounds of them. Now i'll let mine sit out for max 8 hours and then shape and pop in fridge!
