I appreciate this! I’m making a villainous fae for a story I’m doing with a friend, and this is a good baseline for building up my own lore for the story universe!
Thank you for the inspiration, Ken. Having seen this video, I got this cookbook myself 2 years ago. Since then every now and then I bake something for my kids. There are lots of great recipes in there. The root cake will be the next one, I'm excited.
Oi Ken! Watcha think about the 5th Talisman then huh? 🙂 How da fluck are ya M8? 😄 Hope all is well with you and your family! Kind blessed regards! Cheers! 🙂👍♥️
Just bought the Digital Edition with all the Addons from Humble Store. Looks like a great deal, but I have to wait an hour before Steam will let me finish entering all the keys! In the meantime, I appreciate watching your great reviews of the game.
Reading these books was like experiencing a roller coaster except the roller coaster crashed at the end and almost killed me. I had never gotten so invested in something so quickly only to just be so pissed off by the end of it all once I got to book 6 I was just so angry and felt so disrespected and betrayed. Within the first few pages I wanted to hurl the book across the room now I wonder why I even bothered.
Thanks for the review. I agree that the old illustrations were much better. I am just about to introduce these books to my son so I am happy to have them even with the new illustrations.
subscribed for updates for almost a year.. no update whatsoever.. even the delays I had to find out via own research... and currently the miniature game website is dead as it announces the game on kickstarter for winter 2023.... yeah, whatever.... I say.. bullshit... not interested anymore, as even if they DO go live on KS... you can imagine how the campaign and delivery will be run.. or more like not... as this dedication shows....
I never heard about this game before, but I've just learned that Avalon Hill is about to release a new, fifth edition. So I came here to see how this game works.
I've been playing this one today but don’t understand the combat rules. To overcome a combat hassle you need to reduce toughness to 0 so the player has to engage in as many rounds required to drop the opponent's toughness to 0. So to lose in combat means you have 0 effort (health) which is a game over. But every encounter so far has had rules for if you lose, but it's game over if you lose. I even lost 5 more effort after i lost a fight - meaning i was already at 0 effort - so why lose 5 more after the game over. I keep thinking im missing some rules but i swear im not. Anyone know what im talking about? I'm putting the book down because the combat makes no sense.
I completely agree with all of your points, except the one about the Doctor. As much as I love them, I found myself surprised the Doctor even appears in this book (or books, I've read the slipcase edition and listened to audiobooks)🙈 I presumed they're the fairtytales told on Gallifrey (The ones the 11th Doctor mentioned in Night terrors, hence the same title "When I was your age, about a thousand years ago, I loved a good bedtime story. The Three Little Sontarans. The Emperor Dalek's New Clothes. Snow White And The Seven Keys To Doomsday, eh? All the classics." I thought it was supposed to mean our (Eath) fairytales were based on them and I loved the idea!), so the Doctor not being in them would make a lot of sense haha I completely agree that some were a bit underwhelming - especially would be for non Whivians-, but I love "The garden of statues" and the way all the wonderful Doctor Who actors read them in the audiobooks. (I initially got them because of Michelle Gomez 🙈 Love that woman, she's brilliant 💗)
Just finished it. The only downside part was those Apocraylpse Horsemen meeting at an Inn near Quirm. Their conversation was hard to pick going off the head just as their horses went off our heads towards the approaching Ice Giants. The Patrician, it looks like, picked up the habit of catching flies with his tongue from his small tenure as a newt or a lizard. Funny in many ways. Dungeon Dimensions were too much claustrophobic to me. I think many key concepts, whether geographical or conceptual, were mentioned making it a good standalone book. I enjoyed it a lot. Their Klatch journey was interesting and vivid. It was very laminal and surrealistic experience. Overall 4/5 for me.
It’s a particularly bad adaptation. It’s a shame and sin to the art of Ursula Le Guin who was the key step between Tolkien and the modern fantasy as we know today. Whitewashed… That’s all we have to know about this. Period.
It was SO MUCH BETTER than the Hollywood CGI Beowulf. Don’t know why using “teen” is such an issue. As far as I know they had an ancient Scandinavian word for “teen” that got translated.
I assume the kickstarters were delayed because i cant seem time find anything on this or the gamebook mat seen in the background from kickstarter other then from magnamunds website which claims april 2023 unless they ment april 2024 since this video was in june 2023 which is clearly long after april 2023!
David Lynch should do the remake. Maybe he already did. It's not always easy to know what his films are really about, and I have the feeling Lynch's "seventh seal" would look nothing like the original.
