I have a unique concept for a story in a fantasy setting. What is your advice for either 1) creating your own world, and the massive endeavor that comes with that, or 2) inquiring about writing it within an existing world (Forgotten Realms?) and the limitations therein?
Glad you are okay. Shame its not a really an update except you are still not really going to be doing videos. It would have been nice to understand what was in the way but understand you might not want to talk about stuff. (Which is sort of why its not much of an update.) Asking people to subscribe seems a bit pointless when you are saying then next broadcast is April!! Look I think you've you have shown huge commitment but really need to look at what works and doesn't work. As an old crusty I loved the Lone Wolf series. My kids don't care for anything like that and don't know it so why watch? Reviewing films like Willow? Reviewing LOTR 20 years later is good when you are reviewing the modern stuff as well but never going to get you traction on your own. Never going to get you many views. You can see your views and see what people want to watch,when you review up to date popular stuff your views shoot up and therefore a chance to to make some bank which would allow you to fulfil the dreams of the channel. Look at people like shadversity or daniel Greene who have been smashing it and even got themselves interviews with the likes of Brandon Sanderson. And they've not been going as long as you. Some of their videos are just them talking into the camera, no great editing. But they both ooze passion on the screen. Being honest it didn't really sound as if you cared as you sit there on the sofa drinking tea. I know I sound like a horrible troll but underneath this criticism is a passion for you to do well and make the videos that you want for people. And make videos that people watch. You've got some great content you just need to be customer centric and concentrate for a while on the things which will get you people watching. Any I'll take my unsolicited opinions elsewhere as I have right to rant. :)
Thanks for watching Davoman, and for taking the time to comment. It seems you join us in our pain in wanting to make our channel more popular. We felt that we wanted to address our last video where we sat in a tree and said we're taking a few months break over the summer. Unfortunately the break continued for longer: an extra 4 months than we planned. We thought it would be nice to acknowledge this, hence this little update that the channel isn't totally abandoned. This is due to time constraints for both Julian and myself as both of our personal lives have changed meaning we've less time to work on the channel. Plus the update was also to announce our Bottled Imp Live Show in April at 7pm UK Time. Thanks for your views on what works and what doesn't. It's always be tricky to find that magic. We've gone for what I've (Ken) is into and that's fantasy books, films, and board games. Julian and myself have had many long discussion about if that's too broad and maybe it should just focus on one of those things. The other way is to think 'what do the public want?' But this could be a dangerous game to play as it's hard to know what people want. Trying to guess or pick a thing we think would be popular may work or it may not but we'd still have to be passionate about it otherwise it will come across as false. I'd like to think I ooze passion on screen - maybe I just ooze something else that I really should see a doctor about! Check out our The Bottled Imp Show episodes for examples of oozing. Yes, I've watched some of Daniel Greene and he's very good. He started in 2016, a year after us, and I'm not sure why we haven't got the same amount of subscribers. We sat on our sofa drinking tea as this was a cosy update rather than an in-your-face breaking news. Plus we're old and need to sit down a lot and drink tea. Rant away!
