When you come to a stop just put it into neutral, then when you're ready to go put it into drive. You don't have to do all that other stuff. That way when you get on the highway you won't forget to put in into drive to use the overdrive because otherwise your car will run at the gear you have it on and stay there until you change it. On the HWY you want the car in the drive position

Omg, this such a life saver! My car was stopping, stalling, and just plain turned off at a stop/stop light saying my battery was on auto saver but yet had the battery and alternator checked, and all was good, yet it kept acting up all last week and this morning. I was so bummed and embarrassed when it stopped, I found this video about 7-8 months ago and tried what was instructed on the video because i hate this feature that chevy has added to this model and im sure other models too. Anyhoo, I didn't worry about it so much until this morning when my car went out, yet the battery is good. Well, I finally put this advice to work today and no stalling, no automatic shut off, turn on (I hate), no shutting down completely at a stop, I'm absolutely happy, chevy wanted to charge me $180.00 for a diagnostic test and to change my battery with installation would have costed $220.00. I will run this for now on in this mode and give an update in a week 🎉🌸

I have a 2020 equinox. My auto stop doesn’t engage all the time and I thought that was a problem. I have to check what gear is it on . Thank you for explaining.

So do I drive it in L instead of Drive?

Do these actions need to be done with the car running?

The Auto Stop feature is the most stupid, meaningless thing they’ve done to cars since they moved the High Beam switch from the floor board to the steering wheel!🤨

I’m sorry but it’s easier to merely push the override button whenever you drive it. Start the engine push one button. 🤷‍♂️

I do NOTHING different, I get in, start vehicle, and go. Some days auto stop does it ALL the time and other days it NEVER does it. Why???

As soon as I start my car I disable the auto stop. It will eventually destroy your starter.

Just bought a used 2018 Equinox and couldnt figure out how to turn auto stop off. Just found this workaround. Thank you.

I recently purchased a used 2015 Chevrolet Malibu LS. This procedure does not work for me. When gear selector is in M and + is pressed I cannot choose a value greater than 2. If I try to do so message is "Shift denied". Check engine indicator is not illuminated.

Wear out the gear button instead.

But how do you disengage it so you don't have to do this every time you turn the car on.

Ok but do you have to leave it in L and not D to drive more than 50 or 70 miles or do you only put it in L to turn off the auto stop?

With all that heavy media on top, the floss will clog your n maximum two weeks. I would use the bio chem stars from API. They’re light and float and have much more pores than lava rocks.
