Just picked up this machine so far it is awesome! Pro tip make sure the headphone volume is all the way down so you don't get any hiss through your amp! 😂
@@WingMane52 if instagram is to be trusted, there’s about to be! Also any of the multi stomp units-A.D.A.M., Infinity and Photon have similar functions
Thank you for the review. I've been on the fence the entire weekend contemplating whether or not I should go with the Stingray Special with 3EQ or this Darkray. Someone commented that the 3EQ Special has too much zing and this Darkray tones it down a bit. It's also nice to have these effects built in. Others were cautious that if the circuitry is ever to go awry, it could compromise the guitar itself. I don't think that's the case. That effect is selectable and if it no longer distorts or fuzzes then you can still play it as a regular Stingray bass to my understanding.
I just love watching your videos and this one I played so many times just like that. Anyway a friend of mine gave me the key to darkglass pedals that changed my sound totally and I just don't need anything else from. now on. I'm using x7 combined with vintage microtubes and they are always on. Both drives makes something that every time I play live someone is coming to see what I'm using right now. Love it!
Stumbled on your playthrough by chance. I have 2 of the Goliaths in 5 string configs (one built the same finish as yours) and 2 of the Diablo 5's in multiscale.. Some of the best instruments I own and they are tone monsters. Your tones you are getting are almost exactly as mine. I did not go for the preamp built in as I already run the Darkglass pedals on the front end. But yeah super clean and lots of definition. Hands down a great investment and value for people who want options and not be burdened with too much fluff for custom shop experience that is hands down one of the best in the industry.
@@AmosHeller I listened to that riff a few times at work today, and it lifted my spirits. Tomorrow, I'll grab the bass, turn on the combo, and go try to feel it out. I got a massive urge to start practicing and playing again. By the way, I've only had another effects pedal unpacked and untested for two years - Darkglass Alpha Omega, and tomorrow it will have its premiere. Thanks, Amos, for the inspiration to get started ;-)
Amos, this is probably an obvious question, but would you say this is an upgrade to the B3K or does the B3K have advantages on its own? I'm looking for the same tone from the B3K (love it) but just want more control over the mids and bass. What do you think?
Caught your "Blackened" video yesterday, saw that it was a year old and was hoping that you'd have another AJFA video! Picking a favorite from this album is akin to just choosing a single favorite childhood memory... but Newsted help me, "The Shortest Straw" would make the short list (pun intended!). Killing it, my dude... absolutely killing it. \,,,/
I was there when "And Justice" dropped and changed my life forever... I was also there last year during the first batch of Eras Tours show, which was also a life-defining moment... to think that both of those circles in my life would Venn Diagram overlap like this is, no joke/no sarcasm, abso-fuckin-lutely beautiful. Double horns todays, mates ('cause one set just ain't enough): 🤘🤘
Just discovered this channel in the last few days.. (subscribed!) What is the signal chain on this video? Are you going direct to interface? Or to an amp? Both? Any post processing? Many thanks.
Yes it’s great at bringing out the bass exactly as you describe 👍. I love this pedal. It’s an always on for me a bit like the guitarist booster Klon type of effect. Everything just sounds better with than without
THANK YOU for the best available walk-through of this occasionally-confusing-but-undoubtedly-powerful pedal! I've owned it for a while but, thanks in part to a UI that only a Finnish metalhead with an Electrical Engineering degree could love (ha), I hadn't really 'grokked' it until you broke it down. PS: I bought the Origin Cali76 compressor after your demo, and LOVE IT. Thanks again!
My favorite Metallica song, ever. I just discovered your channel after listening to you on the SBL Podcast. Big fan of yours, my 6 year old daughter watches the Eras Tour every day (not kidding). Awesome cover, Amos.
I see some of this basses are made in Indonesia instead of Korea, is there a difference? I would prefer Korean if I can get it, is that fact important? Thanks for serious answers. Killer playing btw, thanks for the demo!
Omg, earning legend status, Amos! Incredible, wow. And this version of the Beatles tune?!?! It’s been missing from my musical life. Putting this on repeat:) Y’all doing alright? Happy 8•9 Day! 🫶🏻
Thank you Amos. You demo a pedal in a way that makes sense to me because you use a single riff (no complaint here!) to compare all the settings. I have ordered an ADAM and your demo helps me to prep for this great sounding DE pedal. Keep rockin' it, Amos! And I appreciate your humor, too! 🙂
