That's so crazy, I just thought about this today!! Like if I can make one of these for my beardie. I live in Texas so it's plenty hot for her. Awesome video!!
I think your enclosure looks good man. I am a fellow builder. I just have to give you a little constructive criticism. I see everybody building ledges that look totally unnatural, just hanging there in the middle of nowhere.. maybe spend a little time in nature looking at rock formations. Build up to your ledge instead of it just being a flat wall with something protruding out of it. It also will make it easier for the animals to access them. try to keep all your lines roughly on the same angle, it makes it look like a more realistic Rock. Again I'm not knocking you, just trying to teach you how to improve. I can't really tell which method do you use on your video.. looks like the grout method? In my experience grout doesn't last long and it breaks apart over time because it's such a thin layer. The method I like to use is thinset concrete, the stuff that you use to stick down tile. It works the best if you get the kind with polymer added. Just mix it really stiff, adding water really slowly and work it like a doe until it turns into a clay like substance. Wear latex gloves because it will screw up your hands and burn them over time and trust me you don't want to learn this the hard way lol. But it allows you to not have to be so intricate on your foam cutting. Just lay out your basic structure and mold about an inch of your clay like substance over it and put your detail into that. Then you can paint it with acrylic paints. it will dry literally rock hard man. It's not heavy either. I also like to take a heat gun or torch and run it over the xps foam board lightly so it makes it hard, this makes it stronger and allows concrete to stick better. It also leaves a really cool crinkled pattern that looks like a rock. these are the techniques that I developed over the years. Make sure you don't leave any exposed foam either because feeders like crickets and superworms will chew through it and borrow in your wall. Whenever I build, I try to keep durability in mind and make everything last at least 10 years. Keep building man looks good! 👍
This is exactly how I picture my ball python vivs. See the back ground, it's Cork flats, expanding foam and silicone sealer. What else did you put on the background?
Great looking Jungle! I have a few shorts of my Stardust(reduced pattern) Jungle/Diamond on my channel. Absolutely love these subspecies of Carpets! Would love to see more videos if you have them! Thank you for sharing🤙
Lovely to see lizard outside and shows how active they are when given enough space - seem to enjoy it too. Is it warm enough to keep it outside during summer or do you just put it outside for short periods when the weather is warm about? I’d like to get a bearded dragon and totally agree it’s important we try to give them best life possible.
So cpl questions...im building one now and i would like to leave the bottom open (im in fla also and have a temp outside setup for playtime) . I would move it around ...bc i dont spray my yard and she loves the dandelions and bees, etc. Is there any reason you chose to put in the bottom? Also does the pressure treated wood affect her...as far as licking everything? Nothing lasts here in the fla sun so im debating how extensive to be...lol Thx so much.
I only closed it to eliminate any chance of her getting out. If I could redo it, I would add the bottom and a barrier around the bottom edge so I could fill it with substrate. I had no issues with the wood.
My Dragon is going to be 1yr in 2 months, the first time she crawled to my back I paniced she would of ran away but then I noticed she just hung on for the walk. I tricked her with piece of moringa leaf and she crawled back to my arms to get it. They are cool reptiles. I live in Florida and will build an outdoor enclosure for sure, thanks for the video
Aww he or she looks so happy I wish my climate was appropriate to keep them outside I will eventually move myself to a climate that will be conducive to my baby's getting outside enclosures even 8f only for the summer months I do take my baby's outside every week usually they all get out a few times a week and I sit out with them for hours so they can run climb do whatever there lil hearts desire I currently have 6 but when I have the space and right temps like I said before the climate by me is just not healthy for a dragon I live in New York so to see them running around OUTSIDE like this is really nice I can't wait for my baby's to wake up I go so crazy during the winter months and my baby's pretty much sleep the whole winter away some legit go in a hide and don't come out for months I check them every day but either way they really need to be able to do all these behaviors it s so crucial to their health and I for the most part spend my days trying to find ways to give my baby's the best I can
