Finally! A Daz Studio tutorial I can understand! All the others sped through everything at lightning speed, or sounded like a foreign language. I am on my way and there's no stopping me! Thank you thank you thank you!
Do you know how to make these custom morphs work with conforming figures such as clothing? The morphs that I create don't seem to apply to other figures/assets.
I didn't get any errors, but nothing showed up after import :( I was trying to find a way to use hexagon instead of blender for updating models and thought daz might help bridge the gap
This guide is amazing! It would be great to have one more for the reverse process. After we imported the model to Blender and performed some modifications to the body, how do we export it back to Daz and import it there. I cant seem to do that, it always loses all the materials and information back in Daz.
if youre not seeing it in blender. download it on daz manager. in the manager go on ready to install, at the bottom uncheck delete package once installed. then download the bridge again, if installed uninstall it and download again and install. then go folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads or on daz manager click on settings, advance settings. then click on downloads and top you'll see package archive click on the tree dots at the end ... to open the same folder. youll see the IM00070891-01_DazToBlenderWin64Bit zip so copy it to a new folder on desktop, and unzip it. you will see a folder name AppData go into it then folder Blender Foundation then Blender then BLENDER_VERSION then copy to scripts folder to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\4.0 done the problem was theres two folders BLENDER_VERSION and 4.0 the 4.0 is where the script has to be :)
Thanks for this video, it's very helpful. But I have such a problem - there is no Scripts option at the very top in DAZ Studio. There is only an option via the File -> Send To -> DAZ to Blender menu. Accordingly, the bridge does not work correctly, in particular, it does not transfer the texture of eyelashes to Blender. And I also can't transfer the morph created in Blender to DAZ. Can you tell me what the problem might be? The bridge was downloaded from the official Daz website and installed via DAZ Install Manager.
Well. That was easy. I held off learning this for a long time. I bought all these sets. I want them to be in focus darnit. I know DUF is often used but it's over-used and doesn't really replicate human vision though it does replicate photography.
Good tutorial but there's few points I need to highlight. First of all, cycles is way more capable renderer than Iray, but it works different ways, so you can't expect direct import to get most out of it. While imported materials are decent, they must be remade to be in same level or better in blender. Daz textures are optimixed for Iray, which seems to make some fixed magic with them. Skin and other surfaces in blender material don't use all available textures and reflectivity seems to be low. If shinyness is increased, the skin looks unrealistic. Cycles calculate reflections based on the modeled surface, so for example skin needs microdetails from high resolution textures. Tiled pores textures do it fine. If the surface is overly flat and there are only few lights, like in typical indoor scene, its difficult to catch refections. It's better outside with environment background lights. Inside, complex lighting and micro details are essential and provide awesome results. It's same with boots. Not that cycles or evee are not capable on good looking reflections on leather, but it doesn't seem to do it with default imported materials and lights. Most likely DAZ uses some default false environment lights and material micropores even inside scenes to create good reflections. Biggest problem for me in daz to blender plugin is inability to transfer armature morphs. Almost all genesis figures morphs bones, causing armature to become unaligned in Blender. It's unusable that way. Characters with bone scaling can only be exported without morphs, and then for example expressions can't be used on blender. Not much of a scene or animation can be done then. This problem exists at least in daz 4.21 and blender 3.6.
I actually enjoyed the computer narrator voice for this. Her even tone and speed was perfect for giving instruction. I just realized humans giving tutorials, especially for programs they have used for themselves for years, tend to rush or sound dismissive of aspects they think are easy. Having the AI voice made all the steps sound equally important and clear. Well written and very informative video, thank you!
Dome scale multiplier, dome radius, and origin sliders have zero effect for me with multiple different HDRIs.. is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?
Hi Guys! I find Daz3d a few days ago and nearly any beginner question a searched for end up on a page from RenderGuide! :D Really helpfull to understand some essential stuff already! Many thanks for the good job! Greetings from Germany
This still works great with current versions of blender and Daz. Thank you so much! Do you have any tips on how to prevent teeth and eyeballs from being affected when sculpting? They get changed too with this method.
OK this is much more informative and helpful than the tutorial on your website which glosses over several very important steps, like increasing the strength & adjusting the angle of the spotlight and very importantly changing the refraction weight!
