My Name is Kevin Delaney and I am an advanced PGA Professioanl, and head professioanl at Theydon Bois Golf Club one Essex. On this channel I am going to give my honest opinion on the latest golf equipment. I am also going to give you some helpful tips and advice to make you a better golfer
Not relevant to this video but thanks for the advice you gave me about lengthening the backswing/better turn going back. Have never driven the ball as consistently as I did today. Very happy!
Great to see you out in the course again. I’m interested in how to control bunker shot distance. I tend to vary the distance behind the ball I hit the sand. Is that right?
it is nice to get on the course, to vary distance can have an impact if you stand further away it allow you to lower your hands and help get the ball up
Thanks Kevin, I’m definitely looking for that “nice straight shot that isn’t gonna get me into any trouble on the golf course!” I’ll definitely be giving this drill a try!
Its a tough one that, it would depend what you want to get from them i would say the i530 looks and sounds better in my opinion but the 730 is more forgiving. you have to try them both and see what you like my preference is the i530, get yourself a fitting with a PGA Pro and take their advice.
Im struggling with hitting putts firm enough. I know what I want to do but just can’t bring myself to do even on practice green let alone in a comp. Any drills you might suggest in another video? Thanks.
Surely that only works if your path is fairly neutral ? Otherwise if your over the top with a closed club face your just going to push it or hook it left
Agreed or if the path is too far from the inside it can help as well if the path is out to in you would have a steeper angle of attack and if you did this the shot would be very left. But that would be a completely different video 😂😂
Can you do a video on playing in the wind, especially when it’s from the side. Hit high, low, let the wind help or try the work the ball against it? Thanks
I’d like to give that one a try although I’d have to get over my instinctive feeling that long putters shouldn’t be allowed! BTW I like the new photo on the thumbnail. Maybe it’s the content and happy look your new putting game is giving you!
Thank you. Turning the body has gotta be one of the hardest things to get right especially if like me you played for years without giving it any thought.
Hey Kevin, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
Thanks for that reminder about the club face matching the spine angle. That is genuinely one of the things that has improved my golf over the last year. The other is not cupping the wrist at too. Nice one.
Nice review. Is there anything worth knowing about the difference between retro and power spec lofts or is it just a question of taste/preference (or is it just marketing?)
Only been doing it for a couple of years, always trying to get better. I tried to show the graphics on screen to give a better look at the club. Fair point could have put it next to another club to show that its bigger. Sometimes that can get lost though in a video depending on the screen you are using
I really like the sticker idea. I’m starting to understand the importance of the club face position on takeaway and it’s made my striking much more consistent and helped my confidence.
Agree. The slight mark from a wedge, branch or cart path will not have drastic changes. All depends on what level of wear is on a ball. Maybe do the test into a green from 100 yards? See if they are worse in that area. Thanks!
Could be worth a go, I did this because my golf spy said that you lost 30 yards from worn golf balls but in truth there was no difference in both my tests. The only time it was affected was when the ball wasn't round, liggtlybworn golf balls are fine.
@@KevinDelaneyPGA Agree. Also agree on the refurbished balls. Painted over other name balls to look like ProV1. Found balls of mint quality are fine never had an issue.
No never do that he is a far better golfer than I am. Just used his image as a recognisable over swing, would have used an image of my self doing it but I don’t think I could get in that position 😂
I’ve tried this and it’s now my go to drill when I need to reset and swing better. Usually do it with driver. I wish I could always recreate the gentle draw shape it creates when I hit a full shot!
no problem i wanted to give my opinion first and see how they perform, an opportunity to compare to my normal numbers. i totally agree that a high handicap golfer would be a good idea to see how they hit them and how they perform. I will try and do that but i know not everyone is comfortable doing video and talking on camera so looking for a volunteer.
Hi! How would you rank the forgiveness and ball speed retention across the face and low on the face for the following 4 irons? Ping i530, Taylor Made P790, Titleist T200 and Mizuno Pro 245? Thanks, Joe
i don't think i have hit the Mizuno so i cant really comment on that i would say that the p790 and the ping i530 perform verry similar but i prefer the ping to look at over the ball the Titleist is mildly les forgiving and slower ball speed but not much in it. it more depends on what you want to get out of the clubs though a lower ball speed and less forgiving will, in my opinion, make it more accurate. but you have to use what is best for you
Very kind of you to say I would hit anything well, it doesn’t always happen 😂. I completely agree getting a person that these clubs would be aimed at would be more realistic than me hitting them. I may well do another video doing that as I think it would be a good idea
Got the zx4 4i, the zx5 5-6i, and just ordered my zx7 8i. That will tell me what to do with the 7i, probably zx7. Ending it with a -1° lofeted aproach at 50°. Question... if I weaken the aproach by 1°, what will that do to offset and lie angle? More concerned about the offset really
If done proberly changing the loft will not affect the lie angle and if it is should be able to be altered so it is constant with all of you clubs. Changing the loft will affect the bounce of the club very marginally but you probably wouldn’t notice that and the offset will be unchanged
Why do I get the feeling that 99.99% of the responders to these types of posts are golf pro shops and other sellers of golf equipment desperately trying to create perpetual demand for the annual "latest greatest" new golf club that literally does next to nothing to lower your actual score unless you swing changed? LOL 🙂
I do have a shop and sell clubs it’s true, but I also review things that I don’t sell and always give my honest opinion. I don’t think anyone will see much difference in clubs from one year to the next. And I think that if people want to lower scores technique and practice will have a bigger impact than equipment over a period of time.
In truth not a lot I think like anything if you have the last version of the club you won’t see much difference if your clubs are let’s say 6-8 years old you probably would notice a difference.
@@KevinDelaneyPGA thanks Kevin. My comment was well intended as I tried the i525 last year and really liked it. Went for the Wilson D9 Forged in the end. 29 degree loft on the 7 is a bit too strong for me, I'd be tempted to go retro lift at 31 degrees.
Genuinely not seen that drill before. Will give that a go. Always looking for something new to stop me thrashing away through a bucket of balls in double quick time!
Jimmy Kinsella of Skerries Co Dublin , Ireland (Madrid Open winner 1976) was always seen with a huge side bend in photographs, his head almost parallel to the ground.
its more about feel, it does feel like i did when i made the swing but that does not always come across in the shot. like i said feel against real is not always the same and these can be subtle movements. it is something that i am working on though, thank you for watching the video.
