I don’t have enough information to say anything one way or another. There are too many variables and questions to fully know who to side with. Just because the employee is irate and wrong for threatening violence that doesn’t mean his boss is right to short him, on the other end the employee might be shorting himself by not working or showing up on time.

I've had a situation happen like this except the boss flipped tried to run me out. He ended up looking like a clown and the office got flipped. His camera caught it all and of course the cops came. No charges and I had to get the labour board involved that took 3 weeks to determine they shorted me 500 dollars. I got my money and I quit at the same time.
