During the speed test at 7:33, did you consider using launch control in the BMW? That might straighten things out

Was just about to buy one and heard about a brake simulator fault which half a million cars have been recalled for in Japan. Other hybrids are also affected apparently. Honda have not yet recalled in the UK. Some owners report the cost at over 2k and wait time for parts of weeks. Some dealerships have paid 40% , others not. Cars affect are 2018 -2022 , Jazz, CRV, and HRV, hybrids. The brakes don;t fail completely but are compromised. We are very disappointed having owned three Hondas and were on the verge of buying a fourth. We planned to take it across Europe but this sounds scary.

The interior alone makes me want to get the Lexus But I don’t think the target audience cares that much about acceleration and would rather more attention put on how quiet & smooth it is

a series hyprid uses only an electric motor (or 2) - basically an EV with a gas generator ( like a backup gas generator) - no ICE+transmission to maintain 😊

"this is expensive, if you compar it to these sedans" "for hybrid SUV:s it's in a class of it's own cost wise" WTF?

I checked today and you could pick a secondhand one up (in France) for as little as €17000. That's a huge discount and a good deal if buying one second hand

There is another extremely important aspect to this not mentioned - more important than even the convenience of choosing to quick swap or charge. That is that you are now essentially partly insured against the cost of a future battery replacement or failure cost, as this is essentially built into the model (if you start to see signs your battery is not at peak health, you simply swap it out and Nio is then responsible for maintaining it - and you're right back at near 100% battery health). You are also insured against even the risk of battery obsolescence and newer EV battery advancements, as you simply swap in a new tech battery and enjoy better than OE at purchase performance! This makes the risk of owning a Nio much much lower than a comparable Tesla, where you worry not only about battery health and the cost of replacing a battery, but also whether newer advancements in battery tech will leave your Tesla outdated. With the Nio, you swap in newer batteries mitigating both of these issues, leaving just the risk of drivetrain, chassis and exterior and interior degradation (which every car suffers and frankly is a higher concern in traditional ICE cars) This is HUGE for mitigating the largest risk with EV's compared to ICE vehicles, which is powerplant health degradation. Frankly, it even surpasses ICE vehicles in this respect, as while engines do not suffer range degradation the way battery packs do, they do eventually wear out bearings etc, and an engine swap on most vehicles (while nowhere near as expensive as say a Tesla battery swap) is around $5000 or so. Compared to a Tesla where you might find yourself up for $30,000 or more at the same interval that an ICE car would need a $5000 engine swap, this is huge and massively reduces the potential ownership risk and cost associated with this EV. I would take a battery swap EV anyday over a fixed battery EV like a Tesla.

Considering 200 miles is going to cost you 14p per mile and 514 miles in a 2l Lexus hybrid will cost 12p per mile you are being disingenuous to pretend that an EV is much cheaper. It is comparable at the very least, without having to waiting 8 hours to get those 200 miles of range. Just talk about the cost of charging an EV. And if you are going to compare, then compare 500 miles with 500 miles, not cats with bananas.

While I wish these kind of car reviews would go more in depth with the interior and all the technology and buttons etc, I appreciate that this video isn't 80%+ dedicated to the driving. The only way to know how a car drives and handles is to drive it yourself, not through a youtube video!

Here is the average rub in a petrol station there are 4 to 6 pumps. I am imagining waiting being car number three in the line. (one other before) A terminal which delivers 350Kw means a hours wait. At present. One will definitely need a unit which is 11 hours at present those numbers mean to me charging times are a massive hurdle to jump. At present the grid has a problem every one making a cup of tea during the cup final. that's 700w let alone everyone pulling 350Kw. Big hurdles to jump.

To the reviewer... Wake up and smell the roses. I have travelled extensively in a 2018 F Sport. Fantastic ambience, quality interior that's a pleasure to travel in. The stereo is a ten speaker Pioneer. The touch pad is fine... Why drive a bland Euro box diesel SUV that will develop multiple faults with a pitiful three year warranty when Lexus offer a ten year warranty and fifteen years on the Hybrid drive train... When you see these on the road they stand out and have something about them that sets them apart.... who cares about a few mpg......

So the Jag is a bit quicker and more 'nimble', but the Audi is better in every other aspect? so similar range, similar charging, but the Audi is bigger, comfier, softer, more practical, has far better build quality inside, better software and screens, nicer seats, and looks far better etc. I think too much effort in this video was put into being biased towards the Jag because its 'faster' off the line, whereas in the real world no one drives like that, as long as its quick enough to overtake safely, that's all that matters, and the Audi is more than quick enough.

Man rhis is literally the furure. I dont think theres any other option, its just a matter of time for this system to fit into some kind of cost ecosystem for EV. Theres no other option if EV is to become the dominant tech for transportation

Problem is that we're going to have a two tier system. Thise that can get cheap overnight homecharging which protects the battery and everone else who will have to pay a higher rate on public chargers and degrade their battery faster using fast charmrge kore often.

Why does everybody think short people wouldn't like to raise up the seat? I am 160 cm hobbit (or 5'3"? for those who prefer measuring things with ancient corpses) and I always raise the seat as high as it goes. Why? Because I like seeing the road and not only the sky. I test drove the 308 SW and I find no issues with the steering wheel. I like it a lot, it's very handy to roll around. My only minuses for the car was the slow responsive automatic gear box (luckily on sports mode it could be shifted with flappy paddles) and the road noise, but it was not terrible, but maybe bit higher than average

Get a 2 year old one that depreciated 50% and then you have a real bargain. It is ideal a a 2nd car/short trips car, and if you have solar at home it soaks up some of what you would export, so effectively costs 8p a KwH, or less than 2p a mile to drive. Apart from an early test to see if the DC charge port worked, i haven't paid for a charge. If you do a 120 mile round trip, you can charge up over the next 2 or 3 days at 3 hours a session, to soak up the solar excess.
