What a snooze-fest the new BMW line up is. The i3 is a spectacular car. They could literally put a bigger battery pack in that car and, over a decade since it was designed, the i3 would still be 10x more interesting than this guff.
Totally agree with you - I switched from a Gen 1 Nissan Leaf in to an i3 9 months ago and what a simply wonderfully quirky, clever design it is... Supremely efficient drivetrain and a quality-built cabin... And BMW have the audacity to suggest that the iX1 is "a direct successor"... 🤣
BMW wasted a decade, it could be dominating this sector instead most of its EV offerings are over priced "premium" versions of its ICE cars. If the power of choice means you can have a competitively priced but dated ICE drive train or an overpriced EV, IMO people will just change brand.
The i3 had been heavily hit with the ugly stick and it appears the plague has spread to yhe front end of all the newer electric BMW's. The "beaver look" is now hideous and I could never buy one as you look like an idiot driving around in such an ugly car.
I know the iX is probably the model that caters the large family SUV segment. But gawd, that car is atrociously ugly. No two ways about it. Despite having test driven the xDrive50 on several occasions now, the monstrosity has completely failed to convince me. And I'm a die-hard BMW fan. I wish BMW launched an electrified version of the X5 and call it the iX5 like they did with the X3 with its electrified iX3 version. Some current owners of the X5, like me, would sooner rather buy an iX5 than the iX. The X5 is miles better looking than the iX, as will the iX5 too. Hands down. Let the iX5 cater for the large electric family SUV segment and let those that want luxury wrapped up in a hideous bodyshell buy the iX. If there is no iX5 coming, I'll soon see myself buying the EQS SUV instead. The first time in my life that I will even consider Mercedes over BMW. The Mercedes EQS SUV is a more compelling proposition than the BMW iX. In my humble opinion, of course.
