What's up, folks!? My name is Francois Harris, an adventurer based in Seoul, South Korea. I've traveled to 26 countries, and now that borders have opened up again, I will be traveling more. However, most of my content focuses on life in South Korea. Sit tight and enjoy the ride as we explore some of the most amazing places in South Korea and the world!
"Do not fix your shoelaces in the cucumber field.Do not tie your hat under the pear tree" a Korean idiom. my parents sometimes said this to their children, and I sometimes say this to my children
believe me my friend. i am a korean born canadian who immigrated to canada in 1974 n have been trying to shown the k-way in north america all my life... its like banning my head on a wall... korea has an elementary kids saying. when a black bird ends up lost in a group of white birds, that bird eventually turns into a white bird and vice-versa.. no reference to color.. the colors in this story represent good and bad! it needs to be more of a community effort. i have tried all my life and have found an individual will have a hard time changing the morals of a larger community let alone a country. i think i may have even got lost along the way trying to convert the lost sheep...i may be korean but i am only human after all!
In Korea, when you register your birth, you are given a social security number. When you become an adult, you register your fingerprints. If you have a criminal record, your fingerprints are subject to management. If you commit a sex crime, dna will also be subject to management. Even if there is a small theft of about $10, if you report 112 reports, a scientific investigation team will be dispatched to investigate through cctv. At almost all intersections, there is a government-managed cctv. If the police work hard, they can arrest almost all criminals. However, there is only a shortage of manpower. In Korea, 99 percent of murders are arrested. Cases with high social attention, such as Convenience store robbery and an adult kidnapping, are often arrested within 24 hours.
The biggest difference between US and Korea is that when the economic times are bad, Americans look for scapegoats to blame, namely minorities and immigrants. In Korea when times are bad, they blame themselves and just work harder.
I am so inspired by your positive attitude. You will go far in life. Thank you for showing Korea in an attractive light unlike the overdone to death “Dark side of Korea” topic.
Lol...got a good laugh from video clips you edited in😆 Separately, I noticed that some of the native Korean women are intimidated by athletic, muscular dudes. I wouldn't say that I'm jacked, but I would say that (as a Korean American) I'm more fit than your average native Korean male. I literally met 2 girls at a bar that asked me if I had violent tendencies, anger management issues or if I was an angry drunk. I laughed it off, but not exactly the first questions you want to hear when meeting someone. Also, considering how your biceps are bulging out of your shirt sleeve, you might run into the same predicament haha.
Kazakhstan is kind a melting pot of Central EurAsia, back in the Soviet era a lot of different nationalities were sent here. There are about 130 nationalities living in the country. I have a friend who is 1/4 Polish 1/4 Korean 1/4 Russian-Ukranian 1/4 Chechen, and my friend always says: @Those people could only meet here. That's why we speak russian too - so all these different ethnic groups can commonly speak.
So that's why the population is so mixed! Thanks for letting me know! It looks like all the ethnicities live well together! I was super happy to see that! You have a wonderful country:)
@@francoismarc3 yeah man, I like it too. But KZ is soo huge and soo different in terms of landscape and everything. Westernmost point of Kz is closer to France than its Easternmost point. Anyway wish you nice trip
I dropped my Samsung Galaxy wireless earphones while falling asleep on Seoul Subway Line 6. After a while, I realized I had lost them and tracked them down with SmartThings. They were near the last station on the subway line. The next day, I visited the station office at the final station and found my earphones there. So I came and had a good day.
Definitely not what I expected! Sorry for the video being too long! Hope you didn't waste all your time... Just wanted to see what a really long video would look like haha
@@aee0320 I get that my comment would get that impression, but no I didn't think that. I've traveled the world myself and can say that Almaty deserves accolades... and I was mostly comparing it to my hometown of Los Angeles which is not clean, not modern, not well-thought out nor particularly family-friendly. Yet it is beautiful... I am more likely to visit Almaty due to this video!
@@francoismarc3 Yeah, actually you’re partly right , some small towns still look like they are stuck in the Soviet Union era. The government is developing only big cities like Astana and Almaty. Mostly because of corruption :(
no sorry u misunderstood by some of rude peoples ( bf or husband’s) in mongolia if u have bad bf or bad husband women do everything and by the way stupid women’s give to man’s that much service …
Thank you for the good video. I enjoyed watching it very much. It seems that there are many people who can't approach foreigners because of their fear of English 😂
Almaty is a great city,,,maybe the best city I've traveled to in a long time. This is definitely a city I could live in...What a blessing to be able to experience this! How did you like the city?!
Racism is everywhere in this world, even african does. It is based on human nature but in dark side of. Of course, we must keep try to fix it. But made-up racism built in Era of Emprialism is whole different level. That what we call White people's racism. Korea's racism is absolutely human nature kind. And they are one of the biggest victim of emperialsm like black people. And they got international attention about 10 more years. Which mean they are not prepared for forieners yet. SO PLEASE. Do not treat racism in Korea like some white people superpower countries. I don't mean say nothing, but please do not treat them like some kind of KKK.
