Hello, This massage didn't work for me. It actually made my jowls and smile lines worse. They are more prominent after following this massage. I mainly did the fingers down the sides of the nose and the small circles. These worsening results have happened to me before when trying face massage/exercises. I believe it's not effective for me. Thanks so much!🙏💕

I'm so sorry to hear that! Of course, nothing works for everyone. These are instructions that work for most. Without seeing you, it's impossible to say why face massage seems to make lines more prominent. Perhaps you have some fluid retention on your face and then massage gets rid of that? How long do the lines stay more visible i.e. how long does it take for your face to get back to normal?

​@PSyoga Thanks for your prompt reply and your compassion. Good question. I haven't paid close enough attention. So far it's the same since yesterday, lines and puffiness are very prominent. I will update you once I notice my face is back to normal. It's very upsetting and frustrating! 💕🙏

I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles! I'd love to understand the situation better. Have you tried icing? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nrCt_AtklHM.html That helps with the puffiness you mentioned without creating any extra wrinkles or removing fluids.

That happens to almost everyone! It doesn't matter if your lower lip moves, too, as long as it's not doing all the work. Perhaps try keeping your lower lip in place with your middle fingers?

@@PSyoga I might also add that the active finger is the thumb inside the mouth, the other fingers just give something to press against. You are massaging the inside muscles and fascia , not the skin.

Thanks for the idea! In the meanwhile, please check out the Face Yoga Basics video about smiling. You’re probably lifting your Levator Labii Superioris Alaeque Nasi muscles too much when you smile.

Here on youtube, there are people who by creams or by plastic surgery was able to achieve a wrinklefree face, yet to me, they look their age, thry don't look really younger.....they aged in their mind and in their body, they don't radiate youthfulness....

It seems to me that aging is a program, for eg. white people age quicker, ..asian and black people look much younger than we, caucasians....and there are a few humans who are not born with this aging program, so they don't age much.....on the other hand, we can slow down or even reverse to some degree, this aging process by doing exercises like yours, reducing stress, eating for our body, staying fit in mind and in body, doing intermittent fasting,, focusing on joy and being present, etc do we will radiate youth, despite gray hair, couple of wrinkles...I dress nicely, in colours that match my complexion, I scooter, cycle, play with my cats like a child....😊🐈🕊️🌳

You are absolutely right! I hate the term ”anti-aging” when it refers to expensive skincare, but I love it when it refers to research on staying healthy. Your recipe for youthfulness sounds good!

@@PSyoga Thanks:), it is also worth to think about, that we have life on this planet because of theSun 🌞, people in the blue zones live long, stay quite fit and their exposed to the sun all day......cancer is stress related often, illnesses have spiritual reasons, emotional imbalance etc. DrBruce Lipton, dr Berg, indian yogis etc have lots of insight on health.....of course , probably it is not the best to get burned by the sun, but to me those creams dont sound ideal, the body produces vitamin D by the sun, the sun is life, so as water.....I prefer to have some natural sun exposure, no cream, then stay in the shade, wear hat, sunglasses, stay in the cool room .....the pharmaceutical, medical companies need money, so they will promote their products .....I prefer natural solutions whenever I can😊🐱. ....your facial exercises are very nice and gentle, it is meditative as well the way you present them, thank you 🌞❤

Thank you! The skin around the eyes is very thin and delicate, so we should avoid stretching it. There’s really no exercise for the inner eye corners, as exercising the muscles there would require squinting and cause wrinkles. There are a couple of acupressure points that are very useful, they are explained in my book (link in video description) and I can make a video about them specifically later on.

How long will it take for this exercise to take effect ?

Thanks for the great question! There’s no simple answer. The zygomaticus major muscles will start to get stronger right away. But it depends on age and skin elasticity when it will be noticable. One might start feeling better (as if they are smiling more often) only after a few days, but it might take a month or two before it shows to others. Some claim they see a difference after just one session, as the muscles fill with blood and the fat pads of the face are (temporarily) lifted.

I'm glad you found it useful! More often than not, double chin is indeed about tongue posture. Try to keep your neck relaxed when you do these!

What face yoga exercise would you recommend for marionette lines?

There's no quick fix for marionette lines and/or jowls, no matter what someone might tell you. I'm working on a video, but it's going to be looooong😅 In my book "A Happy and Relaxed Face with Face Yoga" a.co/d/gpN6sYH there's an entire chapter on jowls. First of all, one needs to check their head posture and tongue position - the tongue should be firmly against the roof of the mouth. Jaws should be relaxed. One shouldn't activate DAO muscles (the muscles that pull the corners of the mouth down), nor push their chin forwards. Exercising Zygomaticus major muscles (the smiling exercise I have here on RU-vid) helps, too, as does activating the Buccinator muscle. And then there are several massage techniques that can help - but never ever stretch the skin! I think this might become a weekend workshop instead of a video. 😹
