I cut all these pieces and glue them in then spackle and sand. I always have scrap 1x wood around for the jamb and door stop and try to have scrap trim for casing, this was also the basic colonial trim that you can buy for cheap everywhere. Very easy if you do trim carpentry, if not use the plastic wood.

Not bad 👍🏽just remember folks to always prime your raw materials first before painting. This includes, drywall, brick, concrete, wood, bondo, wood fillers, spackle etc. No paint and primer in one will not do the trick.

Love the video! Very helpful. To calm my anxiety, did you use any special blade on the circular saw or just the standard one that came with the saw?

But what do I do if the trim is oak, and have hardwood floors?

What did you use under the jam to keep a tiny gap under that for movement? What it a plastic sheet? The end result was very nice!
@nosedrain1594
@nosedrain1594 7 месяцев назад
The frame sits about a quarter inch off the wall, right? (Whatever the thickness of the mirror is). That gap is obviously not visible along the sides and the bottom but is probably visible along the top. Does it look Ok along the top? A “real” framed mirror would have all its edges sit flush against the wall…

Tysm for showing us this! Been looking all over for something similar bc i hate all the detailing in our bathroom cabinets! They get so dirty and are difficult to clean! 😭 I am hoping i can use my same cabinet doors and that i can make them just straight up *flat* and repaint with easy cleanup kind of paint 😅. Sounds like a lot to ask for but I'm hoping!! 🤞

I did this with my kitchen as well. Came to watch a video because I kinda miss having a diy project lol. But just a tip for anyone doing this: strip the paint and sand the doors/drawers before you attach the shaker trim pieces. That way you’re not having to do it all by hand to get into the corners or tight spaces. 😊

Use putty first, wipe it back slightly, skim coat with caulk, move on quicker.

I need to do the same exact thing on about 10 door jambs but the problem is it's on top of floating floor so I can't clock it to the floating floor at the end of the fix nor can I have it super tight since the flooring needs to move

@jcallesano can I ask why with floating floors it can’t contact directly? I don’t understand why the floor needs to move.
