The thermobinding.com web site under "Resources) has a "Guide to the Craft of Thermal Binding" which further decribes the process , the equipment, various supplies and useful tips. You can also find it by simply doing a Google search.
Oh my goodness I love this!!! I’ve been looking for something like this for many MONTHS!!!!!!!! Thanks so very much. I’m so excited!! I will be buying right away!
Hi! After binding, if the machine stays on for more than a few minutes , as a safety measure, power will be shut off to the board even though lights may still be on. The same holds true if you leave covers in after binding. You will need to turn the machine off and then on again. Then you will need to wait until the machine reaches the working temperature again before you put in another cover. If the machine is not at working temperature then you won't be able to select the time, and as soon as you put in a cover the machine will continuously beep. If this continues to be a problem please contact us at 888-992-4144. Marty
How do you bind one book right after another? When I tried, the beeping noise came on repeatedly and would not stop. I turned the machine off and then back on and it was still beeping. I unplugged the machine and then turned it back on and it continued to repeatedly beep (more than 3 consecutive times).

Is there a way to use a strip of binding glue along the spine that isn't attached to a cover? I'm wanting to do something like that so I could then attach the pages into my own homemade cover to create a book or journal.
There are 3 ways to do that. You can use our glue strips placed inside a U-shaped cover that you make yourself. You can buy pre-scored 11X17+ CoverBind "Print on Demand" covers that are laser printable. They come with a separate glue strip that you put in after printing. Lastly, you can use Unibind Steelbacks which come in both 11" and 8.5" lengths. One thier own front and back covers and contents and places them inside the steelback (which has temporary covers that have microperforations). After binding the temporary covers are easily removed to reveal the custom printed covers.
The TB500 is a universal binder that will work with all thermal supplies. That said, all the machines do is add' the right amount of heat and time to get the resin to bond. If you are trying to bind very thick and inflexible material I suggest you score the pages so they will fold more easily. Otherwise, it puts a great deal of stress on the bind. Layflat paper from Xerox, Unibind, Holmberg and others work particularly well.
